planned for this since 2 yrs.by 30 i'll be financially very strong to provide for the child.i've found out a lot about adoption procedures and agencies.would like to know if an adopted child faces any problems in their education or professional life?

any child could have possible problems but that is what makes a parent. You sound a bit immature at this point so I hope by 30 u will have matured enough to raise a child. Worrying about minute things like this will not get u an adopted child |

It takes a heck of a lot more than being financially sound to raise any child, and even then, that is not some indicator as to the preparedness of a person to parent. You seem to be approaching the whole thing in a clinical manner, and adoption is anything but clinical. Its messy, hard, emotionally fraught, and did I mention messy? Have you read anything about the emotional effects on the adoptee? We aren't just the next step in fulfilling your life plan.
Oh, and to answer the question, I'd hazzard a guess that there is a variance in how well an adopted kiddo does in their education and professional life, JUST like a natural kid. Go figure eh. We're human. Who knew. |

imo, you have a good 10 years of research ahead of you before you get your hands on a kid. |

It takes more than money to handle one of us. My parents were barely 24 when they adopted me and they did not have a lot of money in those early years, but they had everything I needed. As for education or professional life - last I checked, you can't dictate the future of any child whether you push them out yourself or not. My mom and dad think I turned out alright. I have a university degree and I am a video game designer. I live with my boyfriend and haven't asked my parents for a dime in years. Though every time I visit my parents, my dad keeps slipping me a $20. |

"Oh this is wonderful" "its awesome" etc... what drugs are people on these days??
Anyway... as other hsve said... you need to do a heck of a lot of research before you adopt. It is one thing to fall pregnant and then find you are going to be a single mother but to actively adopt a child whilst single is quite another.
You have said you will be financially stable... what does this actually mean? Does it mean you no longer have to work? If you don't ever have to work again and can put 100% of your time into this child then maybe it would work...However you also have to realise that when you adopt a child, this child comes to you losing a mother and a whole family: a piece of their life. $ is not everything when it comes to raising a child. I strongly you suggest you look into those websites Linny G has posted and read blogs by adopted persons and mothers who have lost children to adoption. |

factors differ based on local culture and practices. I am from India. Here single female mothers are rare. Hence child of a single mother would feel the difference. Now how it is going to affect the child is based on child's reaction to the environment. Colleagues and other surrounding people may look at the child differently. If the child is inert to it; there will not be any difference. However, if the child approaches it with vengeance; and converts it positively, would be a better achiever. However, if the child converts it negatively the child may become a bad citizen !! alas. So there is no standard answer to your question. A lot depends on how the single mother is going to counter all these external influences and guide or drive the child's reaction. God bless you.

Wow! You're fantastic! That is very very caring and thoughtful of your future child.
My auntie was adopted as a baby, and is very bright. She has various skills such as decorating cakes. (not just any old decorating- like those cakes you see in shop windows for about £500)
It also helped that her new parents were very bright, cheery and happily hard-working people, too. Considently, that sounds just like you! :D |

its wonderful what youre doing.
and it depends on the child's background, i think, that determines the way they learn and think. soo, that would also depend on how old they are.
they only way they would have learning disbilities is biological. |
