Hiya,

Only morning now here in OZ - thanks Mom5 for adding the websites.
Do get onto those sites - they will head you in the right direction.
Please ignore those that try to dissuade you from searching - this is something that only an adoptee can make decisions on.
Sadly adoptive parents put their own insecurities and feelings into the mix too often - and lay guilt - where it doesn't need to be laid.
Adoptees have NO CHOICE in being given away by one family - and raised by another.
Those were all adult decisions - without any of our consent.
And no - you don't have to tell your adoptive parents anything if you don't want to.
Some people just can't understand that an adoptee has two (sometimes more) families - that's our reality - and we want to know all about both.
It's part of us - we shouldn't have to fight to have it.

Apart from checking out those other websites - do add your details to the registries here
http://www.isrr.net/
http://registry.adoption.com/

Check here for other search help & articles - and links to search angels -
http://www.adoptioncrossroads.org/

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found - the BEST
http://www.adultadoptees.org/

I wish you all the very best with your search.

i am adopted too! and ask your adoptive parents to look at the papers to find out what the parents names are and go on white pages or yellow pages and type in there first and last name and you'll b able to find them
P.S it might cost some money!

I was lucky. My adoptive parents were always open with me about my birth family and i knew my moms name and her hometown and i called 411 and got ger # first try!

i know that doesnt help but let me tell you... when you d finally meet them its totally weird! My birth mom looks nothing like me. we are good friends now tho

im adopted also, can i ask u why do u want to meet them?
i know by accident why i was put up for adoption, it was not by choice. i lived in an unhealthy household with a woman who would rather spend her money on parting then feeding the 2 children she had.
are u ready to mayb hear things ur not ready for.
just thank God u had wonderful parents to raise, take of, and love you.

You could ask your adoptive parents who the lawyer was who oversaw the adoption. Were you in a group home before you were adopted? Ask what hospital you were born at too. See if your parents know your birth mothers name, and then maybe search on an adoption find website.

Good luck.

sometimes, its best to leave it alone. honestly you never really know how its going to go. are u close to your adoptive family? i would say follow your heart. you would have to maybe go through the adoption agency, they may know or your parents may know who they are. its a sensitive subject in my opinion
