Yes. My aunt had her kids taken away from her because of her stupid boyfriend. Social services was going to put them in foster care but my other aunt told them she would take them in and care for them and they handed them over to my other aunt.
Now the kids mom (my aunt) can get them back if she gets rid of that boyfriend but she is so low that she is picking the boyfriend over her own kids so i guess my aunt will have them for a long time.
Call and see. Unless the parents of those kids claims you are unfit or whatever i see no problem in you having them.

It's not hard gain temporary custody, and CPS usually prefers for a child to be in a viable family member's home rather than foster care. However, they aren't going to just give you the baby, no questions asked. You will have to pass a home study which includes a physical inspection of your house, criminal records check, credit check and references. If you can't pass this, they aren't going to give you the kid. Also to actually adopt the child parental rights must be terminated first. Most states will not even start the process of termination until the child has been out of the parents' custody for 12 of the last 22 months. Good luck to you.

contact the cps that has the case and explain your interest. Hopefully you and the child have some sort of relationship. The law does say a child must be in foster care for 15 months before adoption is even considered. That gives the parents time to get their act together or not. fostering would be your first step. But contact cps immediately. The longer you wait the harder it'll be. I am a family friend and babysat for the two I have. When they got put in foster care (due to neglect and abuse by parents) we requested them and they gave us guardianship of them as we had a relationship with them.

I know in Washington state cps will place the child with any willing family member before foster care.

Some friends of mine provide foster care through the state. They had a little girl in their home from birth and were planning on adopting her. The girl's grandparent's had her other 4 siblings and couldn't take another in. Right before the baby turned 1 year the grandparent's changed their mind and got the baby within days.

Sad for the family that had bonded with her, but the baby does get to be with her family now!

Why don't YOU file to foster him? I would imagine that the Dpt would prefer the child go to a relative. This could be done relatively faster than if you were to apply for adoption. Perhaps foster him first and then apply to adopt after he has been with you awhile. You need to speak to someone in the Dpt/Agency about this and about your options.

family always gets first dibs on family. contact CPS & tell them that U r family & that U want 2 take the child. then after U have him establish gaurdianship then work on adoption..there are steps U have to take...this easiest route is 2 get the parents 2 tell CPS that they want U 2 take the kids..then they can sign them over 2 U.

iwould think it would be easy cause they dont' want it to be out of the famly if they can help it and if its int he family would be great.
