Teen accused of trying to hire hit on parents
‘Good child’ allegedly sought to pay $260 to have adoptive mom, dad killed
Here is link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23261938/?GT1=10856

I mean really there are news stories where biological kids try to do something to their parents. But the headlines never read biological child tried to kill their biological parents. I feel that it puts a spot light on adoptive kids like we are somehow prone to do this or at the very least strange? i don't know I'm in a funny mood today and thought the headline weird to point that out.

On the contrary, I'm glad it's done, because, maybe, just maybe people will start understanding that there are inherent problems with adoption.

As I've stated here before, and backed up with evidence, adopted people are:

-abused more by their adoptive parents
-kill their parents at higher rates than non-adopted children
-are 17x more likely to become serial killers than the non-adopted.

So, no, it's NOT AT ALL irrelevant. Yes, biological children DO kill their parents, but not as much as adopted children do.

And the article says he was a 'good' boy, and that this came out of no where. I doubt that very much. But I'm sure his parents chose not to look at this teen's adoption as a problem for him. Denial, secrets, and lies create a cancer in the soul.

David Kirschner, PhD, a psychologist who has been in practice for over 30 years started noticing similarities in the ADOPTED teens he counseled. He came up with a term, 'Adopted Child Syndrome (ACS)' to characterize these behaviors unique to the adopted.

He wrote a book last year about adoptees who kill. This article is an expert from that book. I'm sure that more we learn about this latest case, the facts will fit in perfectly with Dr. Kirschner's research.

Another victim to the adoption machine.

Yes, this irritates me...there was a mass shooting at one of our malls last month and as soon as the media caught wind of him being in foster care that is all they focused on!

I think it's terrible, especially when I read all these things about celebrities. They keep pointing out that Tom Cruise's older kids are adopted, kind of like they are less loved and less important because Suri is biologically his.

maybe he wanted his OBC. Some counties in my state allow the adoptee to get it with his/her adoptive parents death certificates.

Some people are desperate for equality.

Sunny makes good reasonable points. Isn't it doing the public, and adoptee population a disservice to at least look at the stats?

If adopted children kill more than the non adopted, thats something to take note of. Regardless if adoption is the cause of it or not. Its not something to dismiss lightly.

I hate that too...like when they call Maddox and Zahara Angelina Jolie's "adopted children". Why can't they just be her children? Adoption is something that happened when they were babies, I don't get why it has to define the rest of their lives!

Yes I do. I think it's completely irrelevant. There are many adoptees out there that didn't grow up with the best Adoptive parents. Many are on this sight. However, you still have to be sick to kill someone, or even try to kill someone. This person is sick in the head and it's ridiculous to even make an issue of him being adopted.

WoW! I am amazed at stories like this because I too don't think the fact that the child was adopted had anything to do with him wanting to have his parents killed and should NOT be the focus of the situation....This kid, while he has been deemed a "Good child" obviously has some issues that need to be dealt with and hopefully he gets some good psychiatric help here....

What has always bothered me too is hearing about someone who was adopted *....it must be in their genes*....ohhhh that irritates me to no end!

I was adopted at 11 months old, having spent that time with a foster mother who was also the foster mother for the person that I ended up being best friends with...we ended up being adopted and living in a very very small town, our backyards bordered each other and to this day (she is 39 and I'm ONLY 38) we are BFFs!

There were actually five of us that grew up together, all adopted....my friend and her brother (not biological) myself and my brother (not biological) and another girl...sadly, we've all lost contact with her because she moved to Florida when she was a teen and has never responded to any of our attempts to get in touch with her.....
======================================
I would like to also comment on something that Adoption is A-OK! said...my oldest daughter is bi-racial and we have lived in this town since she was 3 1/2 years old. She grew up here, has gone to school with the same kids since preschool and I am amazed at not only the kids but the PARENTS that will ask me if she is my biological child. Like why does that matter? I suppose to some people that the four of us together do make some people do a double take...my other two are not bi-racial (but they are boy/girl twins) I have noticed that here in *Smallsville* (meaning small-minded) while everyone knows my daughter and she has been accepted as far as her peers go....that when we do go into bigger cities, the looks people give us aren't so noticeable...

I've been annoyed with that too, but then I had this thought! How do the papers know? The only way they could know is if someone told them, so obviously this adoption wasn't a very smooth one.

I mean, even you are assuming that all the ones that DON'T mention the child is adopted are cases of biological children involved. However, we don't really know THAT either. Maybe they are adoptive children too and no one thinks it's importnat. I know that I rarely see anything about adoption mentioned in wedding announcments or obituaries.

I completely agree- it is not necessary to point this out- Where are the good stories about how adoptees have turned out, there are plenty- however they would not make news. stories like these, and answers like the one given by SUNNY- almost make abortion seem better than adoption, because it is horrible how these kids turn out- by the way, this was sarcasm- death is not better than life- and this child who wanted to hire someone to kill his parents- would have done it , even if he was not adopted- because he himself said the reason was because "they were too strict"- this has nothing to do with adoption.

Yeah I hate it when that happens but this story seems weird. Is it just me or has the kid got a different last name from his parents? The way I read the article, his last name's Jett and his parents are Parnell. Yet he was adopted as an baby? That seems a bit strange, sounds like there was some distance between the parents and him anyway if they have different last names.

Well the reward IS tempting..

I really do not understand why the writer of the article would feel it necessary to make the distinction because it shows that the adoptee as less grateful . Or , why someone is characterized as disgruntled , a boy scout who commits a crime , etc . . .
It misrepresents the whole story by categorization , and labeling , et.al.

Whatever it takes to make a story better will be used. You're right about what can happen with biological children, but that doesn't sell. It isn't very often that there is reports on what teens and other children have done for their cities, towns, etc.because it doesn't sell papers, or isn't a news maker. Only the bad news is what sells for the people to read and be interested in, what a shame. I don't watch TV news programs or read the papers because I don't see or read very much good taking place in the United States. I at one time thought it was crazy for someone to live out in the country away from everything, not anymore that's the only place for peace and quiet to enjoy life, go to town once a week for supplies. A person has better health when they don't have to be concerned with crime, politics, and everything you don't have control over, yet have to make part of your life.
