I'm not thinking about adoption in the hopes that I will suddenly become pregnant. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I want to adopt to give a child a loving family & home. I've always wanted to adopt & plan to, but we also want a child of our own. We have been trying & have yet to become pregnant, so we have been thinking about possibly getting started with adoption.
If you can't understand what I'm saying in the question, then I'm sorry, but that's the simplest way to put it. You must be reading it wrong.

Of course! I don't know anyone who has not been trying to get pregnant while starting the adoption process.
I know of at least four women who got pregnant after they had just adopted or been approved for adoption.

Our adoption agency;if we became pregnant before a child was placed in the home ( one couple got preg during training) they asked the couple to wait until they had the baby because your family dynamic changes with every new family member. However if you become preg shortly after having a child placed in your home they certainly will not " take" that child away. It would just cause unnessary trauma to that child.
Please keep in mind that pregnancy is phycially and emotionally exausting! So is bringing a new child into your home doing both is very very hard. |

Yes you can still go through adoption even if you are trying to conceive a child. Even if you get pregnant you may still go through with the adoption. Some places may think other wise so make sure you search for the right adoption agency that will fit your needs. |

Absolutely. They don't give adoptable children only to those who can't conceive. |

It really depends on the agencies some have no problem others will "cancel" the adoption if a pregnancy happens before the adoption is done. A while back there was poster who posted that the agency she went through had no problem with couples trying to get pregnant while going through the adoption process in fact they conceived a baby, and got an adopted child i think when their biochild was only a few months old. |

This is obviously a very personal decision but my advice would be to try not to get pregnant while you are adopting. I think your potential adopted child is going to need all the love and support possible. I would think you would also want to be able to give 100% of your attention to that child that just got seperated from the only mother he/she has ever known. I don't think it would be responsible to have to divide attention up between two babies.
Also, if you're adopting in hopes that this will help you to get pregnant, you may want to rethink adoption. |

Yes,my husband and i have been trying to have our own baby and do a surrogacy however,some adoption process or other arrangments have stipulations on who they help so if you do get pregnant see how it would affect your status to a baby and other obligations,financial or otherwise,you could be held in a breach of contract and so on... |

This reminds me of that King Of Queens episode when Carrie was trying to have a baby. So in the end they decided to adopt a baby from China. The day they got the baby was the day she found out she was pregnant.

Most people I know who have adopted get pregnant within the year of the adoption. It's almost bizarre how many families I've seen that happen to. |
