My friend told me her adoption papers is short in 2 years...i don't understand...
Her age is 17 years old.

my dad adopted 3 girls that had been treated as my sisters for years but their biological dad objected to an adoption. The oldest was 25, the middle 22, and the youngest 18 at their adoption. They signed the papers to consent themselves. all three were already married with kids when they did it. No inheritance issues at all, they just wanted it to be formal that he was OUR dad, on paper. they were also able to legally change their maiden names to mine. |

Generally a child can be adopted until they're 18. We were pursuing an adoption of a 17 year old who was only a few months from 18. We found out that in our state, it can be done until they're 19 as long as they're still wards of the state (haven't been emancipated by a judge).
I'm not totally understanding your question, but I hope that I've helped some.
Your friend should still be legally free to be adopted, at least until her 18th birthday and possibly even beyond. Does she have a family who is pursuing adopting her? |
