Is this a good agency?

We are going to go with the cradle. What do you all think?

The Cradle in Evanston, IL?

We adopted through The Cradle in 1999. Today (January 27, 2009) is our daughter's 10th birthday!

They are a reputable agency and will ask many things of you including seminars, reading assignments, group sessions, and more. They firmly encourage openness in domestic adoptions.

It's not easy to get approved there. They take it seriously and won't accept PAPs unless they're pretty sure they'll make good APs.

If you want more information, please feel free to e-mail me.

Looking at their website, I'd say no. the section for expectant parents lists meet with a biased counselor to create an adoption plan, pre-match with potential adoptive parents. It also calls expectant parents considering relinquishment birthparents. And, it shows waiting adoptive parents before any counseling is offered.

Domestic infant adoption and relinquishment practices seriously need reform.

I seem to find that the only even semi ethical agency is DCFS

Just buy the agency. You can do that now and then you can have your pick of any child. Heck, take em all. Then you can work to refresh the inventory.

Second Randy with what agencies charge you to adopt a child...

It might be okay for adoptive parents. Reading their WEB site from the expectant parent's or adoptee's point of view gives me the creeps. I sure would not want my daughter stumbling into their clutches. Their information is totally biased toward adoption.

I guess it depends on how ethical you are.

So in love with her husband!! :)
