MOther's day gift for first mom (would like first moms' input)?

MOther's day gift for first mom (would like first moms' input)?

Mother's day is coming up next month. Most of you know that we have a very open adoption with my daughter's first mom. I was thinking of getting her a mother's ring for mother's day. I have one with all of my kids (including my/her daughter). The ring I have has the birthstone and the child's name engraved on it.

A_______ (first mom) seemed to really like my ring when she saw it. I am sure it probably hurt her some to see her child's name and birthstone there. I'd love to give her one of her own.

I know most ppl don't get mother's rings until they have had all their kids so that they get all of their kids names birthstones or whatever on it. But I was thinking that she might really appreciate a ring from her first daughter now.

Opinions please. I would like everyone's opinion, but especially first moms. If this is something that would hurt her or would be inappropriate, I want to know before I order it.

I think this is a very nice gesture, a lovely gift. I know I would treasure it. Just reading about it made me teary eyed to know that there are people out there like you.

As a first mom, I would have loved this gift. I would have appreciated being acknowledged as a mom, and on Mother's Day to boot. Sure, it might be very emotional to receive a gift like that, but for me, the emotions would be good emotions. It is far better to be acknowledged than forgotten. What you are doing is very thoughtful, and wow, I can't stop wiping my eyes.

Wow that is so very giving of you. What a warm and wonderful person/mom you are. I'm in the middle of adopting my foster daughter and I don't think I could be so big hearted.

But to answer your question, and back when I had only one daughter (my first) I would've loved such a ring. And now that i'm getting a 2nd daughter, well I would just have to get a 2nd ring. Since your situation seems very open and she's around in your daughter's life, she'd probably like it very much I'd imagine.

Happy Mother's Day!

I have a mother's ring and my son's stone is on it. I think this is a great idea for a gift and I would be over the moon to get one. I assume she hasn't got any other kids? If not why not get one of the ones that has two hearts intertwined on it? I have one of them with my nmom and my stones on it and our names. It is one of my most prized possessions. There are loads of "couples" rings out there with this theme, in my opinion it fits well with a single child as well.

It a lovely gesture. I asked social services about doing something like that but they told me not to in fact the only thing they let through from us was a photo album so she had a place to put the photo's we send and then it was at Christmas and not for any other occasion. (They screen all gifts if they think it inappropriate they send it back. We can't send anything directly since we have no mailing address to send it to.) If she liked it and you feel comfortable doing it go ahead and do it.

Dear Kidmindi,

I think your idea is beautiful and I know it would not only be appreciated but will be a treasured family heirloom. I think it is a lovely idea and I know it will touch her heart. Please be sure to include a photograph - as silly as it sounds, there is nothing more precious than a picture. The combination would be a perfect gift.

Thank you, for being so thoughtful and showing that FPs and APs CAN have a meaningful relationship!
