the first thing to do is go to an adoption agency or social services to start your adoption home study. They will do all kinds of interviews and background checks before they qualify you to adopt. start making copies of all important papers, birth certificates of adult people living in your house, drivers licenses, marriage, divorce or death certificates, insurance policies, shot records of animals. They are mostly looking to see if you have any background of neglect or abuse or alcohol or drug issues, criminal background. Plus most states require you to be 21 or older. |

Im not sure on MN laws, I am in IA, hi neighbor, lol....I know here, it costs anywhere between 15-30K. That of which, we do not have. Neither do we have great credit. Other than that, we own our vehicles free and clear, own a huge house with tons of room, fenced in yard, we have great parents, family and friends, we are ready for a child ( my fiance has 2 already) but we cannot adopt, as we cant afford the centers fees, nor do we have the proper credit on paper. I know here, they insist on homeownership, substancial finances, marriage to name a few. I am 32, he is 34, we have no record of abuse, neglect, domestics, we look great on paper, minus the money. That is a huge factor, which I understand partially. We need the money to raise a child, of course. And that we do have, just not the extra sitting in the bank to raise him/her to a superstars advantage. Its a hard part, the hardest part of adoption. Good luck. Look up MN adoption agencies, and talk with several, see what options you ahve, and what you need to do! |
