a few year s ago my daughter's mother signed her away for a private adoption, I fought to stop this and spent a lot of money for an inept attorney who didn't inform me in a timely manner of a deposition I was too attend. This caused me to miss the hearing and my parental rights were considered forfeited and the adoption went through without me ever signing anything. I think the adoptive parents may have changed her name because I cannot locate her. I want visitation. Has anyone else gone through this and can help me with what needs to be done legally to locate and reunite with my daughter? Please help. I am only interested in informative answers not opinions. Thanks!

The only thing you could do would be to file a malpractice suit against your attorney. Where do you live? The media LOVES stories like this, you could possibly get pro-bono legal aid if it's publicized.
When an adoption is finalized, the childs name is changed and his or her original birth certificate is no longer valid, and it is sealed.
Unfortunately, many adoptions are not valid/legal due to shady deals involving the father not being named or informed. It is also very difficult, if not impossible to get the child back. It may be possible to get visitation, though.
Dont give up, your child will be happy you fought for her. Contact an attorney and have copies of anything that was signed with the first attorney. |

Other fathers have gone through this. There is an attorney in Michigan named Marian Faupel who handled a case for Dan Schmidt, a father who was able to successfully fight for his child.
Unfortunately, the laws have changed since then, to make it harder for fathers to win.
When parents fight back, they do make an impression. Your child will know you care. |

give it up, she has a life now. If she wants to find you one day she will. I am an adoptee I know that this must be hard for you, but just think how hard it would be for her, two fathers. Maybe when she is older you could look for her, but not now.
I was 38 before i was ready to see my biological mother. I know that this is hard, but in who's best interest is it in for you to enter the picture.
Anyone can be a Father, it takes a true man to be a Dad. I bet she already has a Dad. |

If you were not involved during the time your out of luck. All proceedings are made public like the news paper. That'ss because it is yourresponsibilityy to know, not just your lawyers. It stinks but you need to think about whats best for her stepping in "years later" |
