We adopted both of our boys from Korea. The process from start to finish took less then a year, but it varies by agency. Also for most Korean agencies you can only request a girl if you have only boys already. For Korea you need to be 25-45yrs old, married for 3 years, and some agencies have weight requirements. Children will be about 8-12 months when they come home. You can travel or have baby escorted.
With China, mostly girls are available, and are usually about 12 months when they come home. Both parents should be 30-50 yrs old, and their are now weight requirements. Travel is required.
I know Vietnam and The Philipines also allow international adoption. You can find out a lot of info at www.holtintl.org.
Good luck! |

Different country has their own rules, for example China won't allow single parent to adopt. International adoption also has to go through immigration process |

China has recently gotten more strict on their adoption policies. You must be 35 years of age or slightly older, you have to be physically fit, you need about $24,000 for the adoption (the price may have gone up since my friend did this 2 years ago) and you need to have all the rest of your finances in order. There are a number of international adoption websites, and likely the closest city near you has agencies that specialize in adoptions from foreign countries. |

Thank you so much for looking into adoption. Its such a wonderful experience and any child you choose will thank you forever. However I have one question. Why Asian from another country? There are sooo very many children here in the U.S who need amazing parent. Im sure you can find a child of what ever decent you choose right here in the U.S. |
