We have looked at a few websites but have found nothing but dead ends. Pluss we don't have a ton of money to be paying all these so called "Family finders" money to maybe find her birth parents. My moms birth records are sealed and make it very hard to locate any information. All we know is that she was born in 1959 and was adopted out of some place in Oakland. Other than that there is nothing to go by. Any information would be appreciated.

If you are referring to Oakland CA, the CA birth index is online at ancestry.com. You can access this information with a 14 day trial.
Search this CA birth index using only the date of birth and county of birth and female. This will give you a complete listing of all of the females born on that day in that county. Look at the list, you mothers post adoption name should be on there and there most likely will be at least one other name on there where the child's and the mother's name are the same. If the father was listed the child will be listed under the fathers last name, which will make the search more difficult.
The next step is to continue to use ancestry and the web to search for all of the possible names on the list to see if the person still exists today. It just process of elimination to determine the birth mothers maiden name.
From there you can search for the birth mothers birth record, which often times is in the same or a surrounding county. Once you have a possible for the birth mothers record, search for the birth mothers other siblings. You are hoping to find a male sibling who will be easier to trace since they do not change their name.
It's quite a process but has worked over and over for me in the searches that I help with |
