My neighbor moved in man with two kids and they lost their mom.........?
|
I feel sorry for the two kids because my neighbor just kind of tosses them aside and I know what it is like to want to be loved. Their dad loves them, but I suspect that every woman they come in contact with (their dad) despises them. I want to do things for the kids, but feel it is not only my place but the neighbor and their dad would think it to be weird. I am female by the way. Not a crazed lunatic. The kids say that I remind them of their mother. I just feel sorry for them is all. Any advice?

Be a positive influence in their life as well as respect his boundaries. He is dealing with the loss as best as he can and you should be respectful of that. I'm not agreeing that he's a good parent but are you hoping or fantasizing about adopting them because you feel you would make a better parent? I ask because your posting here. |

I'd do nice thing for them. just start taking extra time to talk to them about anything...find out what their interests are....
ask their dad if its okay to have them over for pizza, or a picnic.
Im sure he would be okay with it.
But after you have established a little friendship first. |

Oh, how I wish the world had more people like you!! :)
Of course it is your place to be friendly and care about children - ESPECIALLY in your community! There is nothing wrong with being caring and kind to them! Neighbors are supposed to be involved with each other's children. It is TOTALLY your place to make an effort to be a good neighbor and friend to the people in your community!
I am sure that the kids could use an adult friend in their lives - their father may not know how his kids feel or be so wrapped up in his own feelings that he is missing them. (He could be grieving and not handling his own feelings well by looking for comfort and company in the wrong places.)
If your're cool hanging out with the children - by all means, DO IT! Kids need positive adults in their lives who aren't their parents and teachers. These kids might need someone to talk to about their feelings or maybe just something to take their minds off of their situation. How wonderful that they have someone who is interested in them!!
You don't mention how well you know your neighbor. If you don't know them (her and the father) well, perhaps take the time to indroduce yourself and offer to babysit or entertain the kids so they can have sometime together. I bet they'd appreciate it! Who knows, maybe they would like to be friends too!
Good luck to you - you made my day!!! :) |

If you have kids, you should invite them over for play. Or just invite the family over for dinner and start there. If the lady, just "tosses them aside," I'm sure she wouldn't mind if they came over your house for a little bit. I'm sure the dad would understand. |

if you really feel that way then you should act on it otherwise you're always gonna wonder! treat them how u think they should be treated. you dnt necessarily have to not talk to the'r dad. simple things like saying hi can change a person's mind about u. just let him know that your a good person and you can be trusted so that way you can get closer to the kids. it might actually be a life lesson that those kids can teach u |

Well proceed with caution... I had neighbors move in.. dad with two kids, mother MIA father very disconnected from his children... I felt bad for the kids and kind of tried to help them as well as their father and encouraged my husaband to befriend this guy...
It's bit me in the butt big time and after a year I have realized there is nothing I can do to help any of them other then call CPS... |
