Need help on where to begin looking...?

So i was adopted technically before i was even born. My parents found out that one of their friends had taken in my biological mother and was looking for someone to adopt her child she was preg with. so it wasn't the "traditional" adoption thing. but anyways. my parents aren't helping me at all and i wanna at least find out my bio mom and dad's names or something..anything...but on my birth certificate it says my adoptive parents names.....does anyone know where i would even begin to look?
Additional Details
I was born in the same city where i was adopted. the birth certificate is the original with my adopted parents name on it. it's signed by the doctor and was filed a few days after i was born so no luck there lol im 21

Romany is right - birth certificates are falsified after an adoption - to say that the adoptive parents gave birth.
Talk about confusing - hey?!?!
Here's some places to start searching........

First - add your details to the registries here
http://www.isrr.net/
http://registry.adoption.com/

Check for information on your state records here -
http://adopteerights.net/nulliusfilius/?page_id=39

Check here for search help - and links to search angels -
http://www.adoptioncrossroads.org/

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found -
http://www.adultadoptees.org/

All the very best with your search.

Virtually all adoptees have birth certificates with their adoptive parents' names on them. These are amended birth certificates. The originals are sealed. There were some illegal adoptions where the bio mother was admitted to the hospital under the adoptive mother's name. In that case, documentation with the biomom's identity would be limited to doctor's records (if she had pre-natal care).

How to tell if your long-form birth certificate is original or amended? Originals are signed by the doctor or midwife, amended ones are signed by the adoptive parents. There is unlikely to be a box for time of birth. The date of filing is also a clue - originals are filed within a few days of birth - amendeds are filed months later.

Where to begin looking? It depends on what state you were born in (I'm assuming US) and what state you were adopted in. Also - many sources will be closed to you if you are under 18. There are many people here who have searched and found, are still searching, are active in adoptee rights to records and are helping others in their searches. Give us your age and state of birth and we can start pointing you in the right direction.

Try to locate the friends of your parents if alive and ask them. If they are alive and won't answer try checking where they lived and if you can you might find neighbors who knew or remembered the story, or relatives . You might try through hospital records to locate the name of the doctor who treated your mother during her pregnancy. It might be different from the obstetric doctor. You might try your local social services on the off chance the people used them for assistance for your mother. . Aside from hiring an agency it is very difficult. good luck

I watch the show The Locater. One thing he suggests is to start looking where you stopped. He suggested the hospital as a starting place. It is too bad your parents won't help you. I understand how they feel but selfish.

I think you should sit down with your parents and let them know how serious you are about finding this information out. Let them know that it's not because you don't love them - it's just a very natural curiosity. Hopefully they'll understand that, and help you!

On the other hand, I have to tell you that even though I understand your curiosity, as a parent, I think it would be hard to have raised - and loved a child as my own - only to find out that the child feels the need to find their biological parents.

I wish you and your parents the best!
