Why don't you try taking him to a police station? You can't just see a homeless kid and go 'swoop! he's mine! I saw him first! I claimed him!' You need to go through the steps. Try alerting authorities. This is a child, not a stray dog. |

There are a lot of holes here. Is he in your class? How do you know he's homeless? Is he with his family who live on the streets? If he is with his family, then I suggest you first approach a local homeless shelter who are equipped to approach, counsel and provide housing and food to displaced families. However, if he is alone, then you should call the police immediatley. |

I don't understand how he's homeless? I mean, he can't just be wandering around by himself. And if he is, you should call the police so they can come get him and find him a place to belong. |

The police should be called first. Before you can adopt him there is a lot red tape, but he needs help now. Do you already have children? If not just know it is a major responsibility that is never ending. Adoption is great and I hope you are given the chance in this case. |

Call the police. They will try to find his parents. If they can't find them, they will take him into a shelter or something and possibly into an adoption center. Then you can adopt him. =)

You should inform Child Protect Services and the police about the child's situation.
You can't just adopt him or take him to be placed for adoption, because you don't have legal custody, and the biological parents' rights have probably not been terminated. It needs to be determined by the authorities whether he is abandoned, or lost, or a runaway, or what led to this situation. His parents may not have any clue where he is, and might be terrified for him.
If he ends up being taken into foster care and then placed for adoption, if you want to adopt him you can apply to do so then.
In the meantime, this is a situation that needs to be handled by the authorities. Please call them as soon as possible. |
