Ok, at what point do you stop Y/A adoption answers?
Find answers to your legal question.

Ok, at what point do you stop Y/A adoption answers?

I answer questions about foster care and this is what I get..and this is an exact cut and paste from a recent hate mail.
Why ask questions if you don't want responses? I don't get it.....

"Poor orfan look for something to do in stead of looking at what others do.
Why do you care about the questions I make??
It is not my fauld your parents could not take care of you because of them doing brugs!! "

Note: How many hate emails are acceptable for each response?

...that is what I am asking.

Funny you bring this up ---- I got an email from you telling me I was wrong and I did not read it all the way through. That is what delete is for.

You seem a little confused yourself. If you can't take the heat, step away from the fire.

hate mail is never ,ever acceptable. One suggestion that I have is to block those people. Go to there profile and block them, so they cannot contact you personally. Sorry that you had to endure this abuse.

tish_part deux
loony...i would only take seriously hate mail that is written at a 6th grade literacy level, or higher :-)

seriously, people have a love-hate relationship with adoptees and foster children. it's sort of like the man at the strip club who calls the dancer a "wh@re" after tipping her half his paycheck.

keep posting. people appreciate your voice in the discourse.

to your "fan": just give them the "finger"...and hooked' on phonics.

love.

How many are acceptable: in a perfect world, none.

But don't let the dunderheads drive you away. You know 100% more than they ever could and you're helping others to learn about foster care issues (except for those who prefer to keep their minds closed).

Torrejon
Wow. I am amazed that anyone would take Y!A for more than it is: a public space where the questions and answers are grouped by content. Would you expect better of going into a train station and shouting: "Who wants to talk about adoption?!%

I just give them the attention they deserve and use the delete button. The few that I have received that are that blatently hateful I just ignore and consider their source.

Some people troll with offensive questions and some troll with offensive emails.

I would take it as a compliment in a way. You're at the very least assured that where you went to school someone was concerned that you got a "basic" education. Obviously not so in all areas.

Your answers rock, particularly in the foster care area.

I don't get why anyone would send you hate mail......I guess they feel guilty or your making them look at themselves.

Just ignore it like I do......I think it makes them more PO'd.

I occasionally get the "what the f is your problem beech" or "go f yourself".

I feel sorry for any child they get their hands on.

There have been times I've let these creeps get to me, as well. But I think I finally learned that they're really not worth the energy.

These are ignorant and totally insensitive individuals - what do we care what they think?

Inked Mama to my Beautiful Boy
Hate mail is never acceptible, in my book.

That would just make me laugh though. I love it when uneducated people insult me. I just hope that person is not intending on becoming a foster carer... God help the children who end up in the hands of someone like that!

Helena B
delete them, or block ur email addy. they jez cant handle the truth. ur a warrior. screw the haterz.

Well personally I wouldn't really pay attention to what someone said if they misspell every other word like whoever it is that wrote you that email. They're either a first grader or just an adult with the mind capacity of a first grader. And last I checked, first graders opinions don't normally count for a lot....

I would just ignore the hate emails. If you're getting a lot, I would just set my settings to where other users could not contact me.

Hi LT! Its not worth loosing your peace over some idiot who is afraid ofopinion different from theirs.

I have too received hate mail from a regular here. Its best to be amused how much you have struck a cord in some one.

Whats even worse than a hate mail is when half of the anti- adoption activists regulars here have blocked me. I have never abused or sent any hate mails only spoken my opinion openly. But obviously there are bigots here who will not hear my point of view.

Don't loose your sleep over it LT !

Don't worry Looney! My parents (a-parents) did 'brugs' and I turned out just 'fein'!

:-)

LOL! No, it's not okay, but...OMG! Seriously. That person should be ashamed to ever touch a keyboard.

Hate mail is unacceptable, and this is no exception, except possibly in how totally illiterate it is. However, a couple of very wise women on this forum told me something that changed my mind about whether or not I was wasting my time on YA and made me reconsider my decision to leave. They told me that when you get these emails, or the thumbs down or even get your answers/questions pulled as unacceptable, it is because something you said was threatening, or rattled their cage in some way. So, you got to them. From then on, I have seen the thumbs down as positives, relished the hate mail and reveled in the Questions or Answers of mine that are pulled by the Yahoo Answers Guru. Every time I get one of those, I know that I have scored. Hope that helps you as much as it did me.

Isabel A
It sounds like the person who emailed you is the one on brugs.

Don't let the haters get you down.

Jennifer L
Wow. I haven't gotten ANY hate mail. I'm feeling neglected. =D

People can agree to disagree and that's fine. But hate mail is over the top.

But is hate mail from someone who can't spell and can't form a coherent sentence really worth getting bent out of shape over? I mean, consider the source here.

Block them and move on.

Camira B
*snort*

Wow. That grammar is...just wow.

Don't worry, I get hate mail all the time. I find it hilarious. My last:
Shouldn't you be breeding for infertile paps instead of worrying what I am doing brood mare. Call me what you will, but my children are growing up in my home...how bout yours? Your baby calls someone else mommy right?

So fun. I agree that hate mail is unacceptable, but there will always be a$$holes out there that have nothing better to do then try to rile up random people they don't even know. Pathetic much? Signs point to yes.

None.

But they frequent places like these where anyone is brave enough to speak up about what they believe in or their own experiences. I have had my fair share too... do what Randy B suggests and hit the delete key, it is all the attention they deserve.

(((LT))) keep speaking out :)

allchildrenareangels
sorry that does sound quite rude.

Block them with the first email, and let it go.

No hate mail is acceptable. Education from other points of view help, and I myself have been awakened and educated, because I didn't realize the other sides of the adoption triad, even though I tried to educate myself about it. Someone earlier had said in another answer that you can't just read it, you have to live it.

We live in a country with freedom of speech, including in writing. We have rights our countrymen and women have fought for, and died for, because they cared enough to preserve what's in our Bill of Rights, and in the Constitution of the United States of America.

What is horrid is that so many have taken these rights to do wrong. They make hateful, and ignorant statements, just because they can. Because of those who are so ignorant in the adoption section, as well as everything they write in our country, they will one day end up censored again, because of the abuse of their rights.

Don't let the ignorant answers bother you. Just consider their source, as from the ignorant and meanies. Use this forum for what it's meant to do, educate those to and from each side of the adoption triad, and never bully others just because they don't agree with your opinion. That ony makes me angrier at the ones I don't agree with.
