Many adoption agencies will put your adoption on hold if you are pregnant. Be careful to check. A couple in Nebraska just had the of adoption of their son disrupted because they lied to the agency about the wife being pregnant. The "birth" mother specified that she wanted her son placed with a family with adopted children only. The agency filed in court to stop the adoption and now the couple must return the baby.

Just be forthright with your plans.

Tell him you're pregnant first!

Why on earth would your husband not be the first person you told you're pregnant?
Tell him you're pregnant right now, then figure out the answer to your question.

That's kind of unfair for the adoptee.
An adoptee has suffered great loss to become an adoptee - of mother, father, extended family, history, who they are - and they need a parent who will be front and centre in their lives - not one that is too busy looking after a baby.
Please reconsider.
Perhaps adopt down the track - and please do look into foster care - where there are 100,000's kids waiting - that really need loving parents.
All the best with your pregnancy.

It's really not recommended. In fact, some agencies have policies against it. Honestly, both demand quite a bit of individual attention and it really isn't fair to either of them. Worry about your pregnancy right now. You can always adopt later.

tell him u are expecting and then say we can adopt after this baby is a cuple of years old :) Goood Luck

My understanding is you need to wait 12 months from the time your baby is born. (Not sure of laws in US but in Australia you have to wait).

Check out some adoption sites and they will be able to tell you more information.

You need to tell your husband first. Children are wonderful, but one at a time is easier to take care of. I don't know why you would be scared to tell him. If he wants 2 adopt, then he should be happy, unless there is more to your story.

Jelly tots
a good idea would be to tell him that your pregnant! Be honest and open. Thats always a good foundation!

Most agencies will not even consider you if you are pregnant. Wait until you give birth, then revisit the adoption option.

one must wait until the baby is born, think about it?

well u definatly have to let him know!!!
and then mayb he still want to adopt then adopt to!

I would tell him you are pregnant and would love to plan adopting a second child later after he has a vasectomy.

In many cases a newly adopted child will be placed into a family that has not had a new baby or other adoption within a period of time.

I am not sure why the situation has to be either or... most families add children one at a time unless they are twins and it is generally accepted not to be the best idea to "Artificially Twin" an adopted child--especially with your own biological child....

He probably is ready for a baby. And now that your pregnant you should tell him so he doesn't do anything rash. He seems like he's ready for a family and will probably be thrilled when he finds out! And if he still wants to adopt then good for him for wanting to provide a home to a lonely child!

people do it all the time...but really you need to tell your husband.

First, tell your husband you are pregnant. It is very important in a relationship to tell the truth.
Second, ask him if he still wants to adopt.
if he says yes, you should get one. But a young one so that they don't know that they are adopted, and so that they can get along with their sister/brother.
If he says no.... then you just keep that one baby.
Best of luck

Sure. Why not?
If you have the right heart about adoption and can love both children as equals...go for it! : )

Good Luck telling your hubby about the pregnancy...I am sure he will be Ecstatic!! : ) Congrats!!
