Okay...call me stupid if you want but what is a troll?

I keep hearing people call some on here trolls. What is meant by that?

April... that's funny! I won't tell you that you are wrong... I will let you remain in your own little happy world. Have fun!

Essentially it's a term used to describe people online who's sole purpose in life is to ask questions, say things or generally do things to get a negative reaction out of others. To stir the pot as it were.

For example, a troll would ask a question such as "Do you ladies ever feel like a failure for not being able to have children of your own and having to adopt someone else's?" (much like a question that was asked here recently) While a person who genuinely wanted to discuss such a subject might ask ... "I'm unable to have children of my own and I'm wrestling with all the feelings that go with that but I wanted to consider adoption. Has anyone else ever felt this way?"

You're not stupid. The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked. A troll is also someone who is nasty and say unprovoked nasty things to others.
