Please explain this to me?

so my friend and i were both trying to adopt I made 30,000 more a year then her, i have a degree she has a ged, I have no criminal record, she's had 2 dui's and she was able to adopt and I wasn't. Why would she get a kid and i wouldn't? We're both single. She also has an apartment and I have a house

Everyone's application is considered independently. It's not a competition or a race to see who gets approved first.

If you were not selected then I suggest you spend more time taking a look at your own situation then someone else's. If you were not able to adopt then they should have told you why. If not, ask why. You have a right to know why your application was denied.

It sounds like there is more to this then what you are stating.

That is a question we can't possibly know the answer to. Basically there must have been something in your interview or homestudy that raised a red flag. (The first question that springs to my mind is, are you sure the people you gave as references actually said positive things about you?) But exactly WHAT it might have been that caused you to be denied is really just conjecture on our part.

You and your friend weren't competing to adopt, and you being denied isn't directly related to her, so there's no point in comparing your situation to hers.

I suggest you talk to the social worker(s) who did your homestudy and interviews. If they are willing to give you feedback, it will help you make the changes that will enable you to provide a safe and healthy adoptive home.

It is not all about money. Maybe you didn't pass the mental test idk...

Whoever said okay for her to adopt while she had 2 DUI's needs a smack in the face.

Maybe it's because she's female and you're male.
That might be a part of it.
But I suspect it's your emotional testing where you didn't pass.
Did you ask the adoption agency where you need to improve to pass?

What type of adoption did she do? We did a private adoption of our son, who we met through a mutual friend, and the cost was inexpensive, and it didn't take very long at all, because of our fortune to have met his first parents, and have them choose us.

Perhaps she went through social services, and spent the time to get the education to foster-to-adopt, and you're sitting at an agency waiting to be placed with "the perfect newborn". There's not enough information about both of you here to make an informed decision. I'd ask your friend how she was placed with her child.
