Question about abandoned children....?

Well, long story short, I wsas an abandoned child. I was abandoned at birth and left under a stairwell to an apartment building in Anaheim, CA
I was found when I was just a few hours old, brought to the hospital, and put up for adoption.
I'm pretty much wondering if you have any ideas on how I can find any biological relitives. I obviously have no idea who my mother or father was (no one does) and I don't know if I have any siblings out there. I don't even know what nationality I am.

Any ideas of what I can do or where to even start looking?
I'm going to be 27 next month. So I don't know if way too much time has passed. It's just one of those issues that bugs me and is always on my mind. I just feel I NEED to know where I came from. I just don't feel complete.

I'm so sorry Josh - that must be a pain-in-the-butt to live with - and painful at times I'm sure.

Sunny has given you some great ideas.

I'd also try to get in touch with the hospital that you were taken to and adopted from - to try to get hold of hospital records.
(don't mention you're an adoptee - at least to start with - as they'll not tell you a thing then!!)

It's horrible to not know where you came from or who you're related to.
Don't take to heart any comments you hear about being grateful for the life you had. They have no idea - and need an education!!! The issue of how your life turned out has NOTHING to do with wanting to find your personal truth.

It sounds like a good newspaper article. It would be worth it to call you local paper and see if they are interested in doing a follow up on your life. With a picture. That might help some people who may think you look like somebody. End the story with you don't blame anyone and you just want to meet your first family and know where you come from.

Get a po box number and have responses sent to your box number. Then let a dear friend go thru the mail for you. Just so you don't get hurt by some crazy peoples responses.

post your story on craigs list for anaheim, run it in the paper, just keep it out there so that somebody who knows might see it and get back to you. just keep it posted on craigs list and other forums for the area and run it in the paper every 2 weeks or so. if she is looking too that's your best chance.

You also might want to contact the news media in Anaheim, your story would be interesting to t.v. stations and the newspapers.

Also, you are technically called a 'foundling'. There is an adoptee, Joe Soll who is also a foundling, who might be able to give you ideas. He is now a therapist who works with adoptees and natural mothers. He has nightly internet chats, too.

I can tell you that if you take a heritage DNA test you can find out your biological/heritage make up. It could be quite interesting. Good luck with your search.

Some questions that we have will never be answered in this life. I understand and empathize with you and your need to know. I don't think that you will find an answer to your questions, and you need to get passed all that. Be thankful that you were found and that you have the ability to write well and are healthy.

I'm not trying to dissuade you in any way.........I'm just trying to help you face reality. Sorry I have no answers for you.
