How would you feel if you found out that your adoption came about through illegal or unethical practices?

Honestly, I don't know.
I have been thinking about this since I started to search. I was born in the 60's, in Portland, a place pretty notorious for shady adoptions. It is possible that I could find this out.
I'm a person who has always been extremely positive about the outcome of my life and I am, for the most part, pro-adoption. If I were to find this out I completely do not know what my reaction would be. I know it would have an effect on me, and I do know that I have to prepare myself for this possibility. |

I think many adoptions prior to the mid 70s were unethical and/or coerced in some way or another by society, family and maternity homes and agencies.
Other adoptions were black market... which would really bother me to find out. |

Well I have recently found out that my adoption might well have been illegal and I would not dare write here the words that describe how I feel.Let me just say this and that is if the facts which I have been presented are true there are a lot more people out there who are completely uncaring about the members of their own family.I could never be like that.The truth needs to come out regardless of these people who like to hide things and the feelings of the adoptees and their natural parents need to be considered |

If I found out I would not only feel robbed of any dignity but I would be severly angry at whoever did something so uncaring of my wellbeing as an infant. Someone who doesn't care enough to legally find a home for an innocent child has no heart. |
