Question on Adopting an older child thats in bad care?

Is there any possible way of adopting a child thats already in care but they're in abusive care? My son's friend is under care of her grandmother, and she is physically and mentally abused on a daily basis. She has told me her social services case was closed. Although I wasn't sure if that meant there was nothing I could do. She is afraid to say anything to anyone except to me. And I want to help this girl without her going into a foster home again. Please help.

The first hing you need to do is call Child Protective Services. The first priority should be to get this child out of her abusive environment. Then if the child is removed from the home, you need to let CPS know that you would be interested in Fostering her.

When she said her Social Services case was closed most likely she was referring to food stamps and/or cash assistance from the state. This does not mean you can not call to report abuse.

Call CPS and let them know that she is being abused. When they contact you for further info, inform them that you would be willing to foster her if they find she is in an abusive environment.

You can foster without being licensed if you are a relative or a god parent. People all the time say they have been a "god parent" to the child so that they can do relative care without actually being a relative.

There is no guarantee that you will be able to adopt her. Unfortunately, any child who goes into foster care is at risk for abuse. How old is this child?

All I do know is that if she's being abused you need to stand up for her & do something.

she should call up CPS herself any time she feels treated bad... she should tell everyone at school... you yourself can call... heck, calling the police ususally is nevera bad idea even ...

then you could tell DSS you are a placement resource...
