Were told to place advert's and scout for pregnant women to give them a baby by agencies? And did anyone even think about doing it out of ignorance or someone advising them too do it because they saw it on Youtube or an advert and just figured thats how its done?
Also would the social services conducting a homestudy approve of those kinds of methods. what sort of advice have you recieved when being assessed in relation to ethics in adoption.(Even relating to private) If any at all.
(From Randy's question. That Youtube blurb got to me because I don't know anyone who'd stoop to doing that just to become parents. Yet so many people get the idea that all pap's are like that.)

Also do think that TV talk shows give people these kind of ideas and that this is what adoption is about today.

We're going through a licensed agency that does the searching and networking on our behalf - there was never any talk of networking ourselves. The agency networks only with other licensed agencies (a requirement of ours), not with unlicensed facilitators or lawyers. They don't "advertise", market us, or anything like that - they have relationships with other agencies and, when situations become available, work together to find a match.
We certainly discussed ethics during the home study process (which this agency also performed). We had done a great deal of research prior to engaging this agency, but it was important to us to reconfirm this with them ourselves; it was also important to them that we felt the same way they did - long story short, we sort of grilled each other on the topic.
As far as the talk shows go, I haven't seen any lately so I'm not sure what's being said. I have seen a lot of negative stuff on various message boards about how APs are viewed as "imposter" parents who all got these children through nefarious channels... it breaks my heart. For us, and all the other adopting couples we know, it couldn't be farther from the truth. I respect my future child, my future child's mother, and myself too much to stoop to that. |

Funny....I don't know anyone that thinks "all" Paps are like that.
The fact that is.....there are "many" that are and their behavior has been encouraged/supported.
You would have to be deaf,dumb and blind not to notice it.
Do a simple search on the internet and look at the thousandsss that are.
Those desperate vultures are everywhere......even here on Y/A. |

We have only considered special needs adoption from foster care. Though I can see where some people may come to that conclusion. |
