Additional Details haha I never thought of that! lol I wouldnt do it without telling him though haha and as far as the babies real father he doesnt want anything to do with him. that's why he moved 2,000 miles away.

My son's bio father wasn't on the birth certificate and wanted nothing to do with us either, and he and I had been together for 2 years. He lived in the same town and the whole town knew he was the father. I never asked for child support or anything from him. Flash forward 9 years, and I met an amazing man who I ended up married to (and still am married to!) We got married right after my son turned 11. My husband wanted to adopt my son and my son wanted to be adopted so we spoke to a lawyer who had been a good friend of the family for years. She even knew who the "real" father was, but advised us that we needed to inform him of the intention to adopt. Even though all those years had passed, the law is the law and we had to either print a notice in the local paper both in the town we lived in, and in the town we knew he lived in now OR we had to try to contact him directly and get him to agree to sign the papers giving up all parental rights. We were able to contact him (through his sister who worked where he worked) and after some sneaking around (his wife didn't know anything about "our" son) he signed the papers and my son was adopted 3 months later. Save yourself a lot of trouble and have the bio dad sign the papers as soon as possible. I don't think your BF can adopt your baby until you guys are married anyway. The weird part about that is, your baby will be issued a "new" birth certificate with his "new" last name and with your husbands name in the "father's name" spot. Good luck to you, your boyfriend and your baby...and your new role as Mommy. BTW, my son is now almost 20 and is having a little girl next month...HIS birthday is Nov. 17 and the due date for his daughter is...Nov. 17!!! |

Yes the Paternal father will need to sign off his rights.
I have seen this happen without the paternal father knowing about the adoption in advance, and it back fired on the mother later because the paternal father found out about the child, and low and behold he wants to be part of your childs life. This can end up in a court battle. |

Tee hee.. you could be sneaky... and put this mans name on the certificate anyway. Who will contest? unless the real father REALLY wants to be a part of this childs life.. |

He can adopt your son as long as you run an adoption notice in the paper for I think 2 weeks??? Or you could just claim the man you're with is his bio father |
