Should I get in contact with my 14 year old biological sister?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should I get in contact with my 14 year old biological sister?

Do you think she is too young? I don't want to be selfish about this. She knows about me and everything. I contacted my biological parents a few years ago but have moved several times and lost their e-mail address (and I no longer have the address that they knew of), so I am desperate to find them again. The first time we made contact I was only 19 years old and not mature enough to really deal with it. I thought I was ready but I didn't know what to say and I was so confused that I stopped responding to their last few e-mails. Now, I found my biological sister on facebook, and I really want to add her as a friend, but I'd like to know some others perspectives on this.

Thank you, and please don't judge me....

My biological parents got married after they gave me up for adoption when they were 18. They had two more kids together that they raised, but they are now divorced. I've never actually spoken directly to my bio. sister (but they told her about me when I contacted them) and don't have any contact info. for my bio. parents.

I suppose it couldn’t hurt. You might send her a message on face book asking her if she wants to be in contact with you.

Is she living with them or in another home? Regardless, I would of course try to contact her....she may just need a big sister in her life....but if she is living with your bio parents, you might want to contact them and see if they feel she would be willing to talk to you/get to know you. That may also give you a chance to reconnect with them again.
Life is very short and there is no time like the present.

yes. good luck. i'm sure she would be excited.

OMGosh YES!!! She is probably so curious about you. And tell her you would like to talk to your mom and dad. They are probably hoping to hear from you too! Good Luck :-)

Absolutely - give it a go!!
It's better to reach out at a younger age - she may not take it well at first - but at least she can know that you're around - and willing to have contact.
Far better than trying to do it all when you're all in your 30's - as I'm now trying to do.
You can only try.
Make your message light - no pressure - just reach out - and see how you go.
I wish you all the best.
And - yeah - do drop by here - it's a great forum for adoptees -
