Should Walmart/Dollar General get into the adoption brokering business?
|
Where I live there are two of these stores next to each other and I patronized them today because I needed to stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, candy, and laundry detergent.
I noticed that at each of these stores there were several flyer's of Christian loving couples looking to adopt a baby or toddler.
Do you think that these corporations should become licensed brokers so that they can make a profit off of these couples trying to avoid agency fees?
They could use the money to provide health insurance to its employees or get another corporate jet.

People who advise adoptive parents to "network" to find a "birth" mother, advise them to put flyers in places where poorer people shop and at places like restaurants hoping to snag a preggo waitress (we all know that waitresses do not make enough money to deserve a child) or laundromats (same reasoning about people who wash their clothes at laundromats). I saw a forum where a hopeful adoptive mother goes to Walmart and puts her "networking" card in the pockets of the store's maternity clothes. I think that this predatory, stalking behavior is sick and pathetic. I take the flyers down throw them in the trash when I can.
ETA - Tish's answer " I was at an american school health conference in tampa last week and was floored that the infant adoption folks had set up shop."
Tish - the adoption industry is drooling to get into schools where they have direct access to the commodity. Baby trollers write baby-begging letters to high school counselors all of the time. They defend it by saying that they are doing the preggo girl a favor by taking her "problem" off her hands without parental "interference".
Must go puke now. |

Well, I know that would be MY dream-come-true AP. Christians who shop at Dollar General.
I see it as more of a Costco endeavor.
Thanks for making my day, I. My childhood could have been worse. |

While they're at it, maybe they can start importing babies from the Chinese factories where they make everything. |

Wow, there's a scary thought! This adoptive parent refuses to shop at Wal-Mart anyway, even for toilet paper, because they are so criminally corrupt; I bet they'd be very successful in the adoption business.

Yeah sure why not there is a recession so lets look at what else we can sell - lets start with babies, great mark up and high profits, they dont take up much shelf space and are sure to be in great demand.
Amazing in 2008 Christian loving couple supporting the buying and selling of humans. Haven't we moved on since the slave trade was abolished? |

Absolutely not. It's bad enough that these corporations like Walmart exploit millions of people as it is. Dollar General isn't too bad but it sells the Walmart leftovers. That question is like asking "Should Walmart rule the world?" We don't need a shopping retail chain to take over adoptions. |

BLEH!!!!!!!
To everyone's stories, an big fat BLEH!!!!!!!
I think my Acid/Base balance has shifted from all the vomiting I just did
I was on this page
http://www.adopthelp.com/pregnant/birthmother-faqs.html
and saw this:
"I called AdoptHelp very early on in my pregnancy. They didn’t belittle me but instead were supportive of my decision. Thank you for treating me like a person."
- Birthmother
notice how they she says they treated her like a person, but they only refer to her as a "birthmother"
I hate people |

The school guidance counselor at the High School Stephanie Bennett attended is the one who orchestrated Evelyn's loss to the Skank Sisters at A Child's Waiting. One of the major agenda items of the Infant Adoption Awareness Training seminars sponsored by the US Gov. is aimed at guidance counselors, teachers and school personnel. They are salivating at the opportunity.
I keep hearing about how the best interest of the child is always the utmost, and that largely from "Christian Couples". One has to wonder what the heck God is thinking, that scamp, putting all those babies in the wrong tummies, huh?
Imagine if Mary, the mother of Jesus, was attending one of these high schools now. She was 13, after all. She would have been in middle school. She would have been prime meat! |

This was likely a decision made at the store level by a manager, if even that. Some stores have bulletin boards where anyone can place anything on them and as long as nobody says anything, the stores usually don't notice.
If it bothers you, tell a store manager. You could always call the family, I assume their contact info is listed and have a healthy discussion about your feelings. |

You realize most stores maintain very little oversight of their notice boards, right? Unless somebody complains, they likely don't really care.
So may I make a suggestion? Complain! Instead of making snarky comments to the internet world about this, why not speak to the management about why you feel this is inappropriate. Educate them about the potential abuse that could come from this (and their potential liability in what is essentially soliciting minor children, should the situation turn out to be criminal or fraudulent.)
If that doesn't work, write a letter to Corporate. Encourage others to write. The management will do nothing if they don't realize people care, but if they understand that people do, they'll start guarding their image.
If you've already tried all this, then snark away. If you haven't... then go DO something, instead of complaining to random strangers on the internet. |

OMFG!!!!! As if Wal-Mart wasn't evil enough!!
All of this makes me absolutely SICK!!! Before you know it, they will be setting up an aisle where you can choose to splurge on the premium white newborn or go for the discounted ethnic child? What's next friggin' coupons?! Why not stamp a bar code on their foreheads!? (Easier to scan the "product" that way - and it's great way to keep up on the inventory!!!)
I am just disgusted at the tactics used to "obtain" human beings!!
So many of these answers have such stomach turning information!
I am horrified that schools allow this kind of thing! (I guess that's about what we can expect from our lovely government indoctrination centers!) And here I was thinking that schools had a duty to PROTECT their students!!
ALL of this should be illegal! I have to go be sick now - make room in the vomitorium for me Grapesgum, Tish and Autumn! |

Not everyone is rich enough to afford adoption agent fees. But it doesn't mean they don't want a baby any less or that they don't want to make a child's life better.
The main interest should be the child and if they make good, loving parents, why does it matter how they got the baby in the first place? |

Think this is better than stores that actually pay money to plan parenthood that supports abortion, and yes, there are many, you can look them up. What bothers you so much about this. Walmart would not be involved in the adoption procedure, they are just allowing couples to let others know they are looking to adopt. This is about life, my friend, so why should it bother you. Some couples that are looking to adopt have to go about it in different ways, then couples that have megabucks to spend. How do you know that they will make a profit off of these? When a person is standing outside a store raising money for a homeless shelter, they don't get any money. The stores are allowing them to do this- that does not mean they will profit. |
