Should i adopt my friend's baby?

Should i adopt my friend's baby?

My friend recently had a baby. Her boyfriend left her as soon as he found out she was pregnant. Were very close and i care about her deeply. I moved in with her temporarily and helping her taking care of the baby. Last night she told me she is so thankful for my help it means a lot to her. I told her anything she needs i will do for her. She ask me if i would adopt her daughter and become her legal father. I told her I'm not sure if I'm ready for that kind of commitment. She told me she can't do it on her own. She told me she was falling in love with me and she really wants to have this be the start of a beautiful family. I don't know if she really loves me or is just vulnerable because of the breakup. I'm not sure how i feel about her. Should i adopt her baby or not?
Additional Details
I never said i don't love her i haven't decided that yet.

Nana to 1 and 1 on the way
I wouldn't jump into adopting the baby just yet. You should see if a romance develops and how far that goes first. If you end up marrying, then yes, adopt the baby. In the meantime though, if you want to provide for the baby in the event of your death, you can have a will written up stating this. Good luck!

Not right now. If you adopted the baby now, and then she decided she didn't want to date you, you would still be legally required to pay child support. Wait until the relationship works out and you guys get married. Don't do it before then.

Regardless of anything... The baby is the most important...
But if u do not love her and cannot accept her baby tht way than tell her. U hav ur life an u should live it... The way ur happiest.

if there is any doubt in your mind don't do it. this is a huge decision and if you're unsure about it then you shouldn't do it. tell her that you really care about her and you'll always be there for her but you aren't sure if you can take on that much responsibility now and you don't want to let her and the baby down if it turns out you can't handle it at the moment

no. if you are not in love with this women and do not feel a family unit with her, then do NOT adopt her baby. That isnt fair to her if she falls in love later, gets married, and wants that man to adopt her baby. I think that it is very admirable that you are helping her out so much and are being a great father figure, but you can be a father figure without legally adopting the baby.

Best advice I can give you is to tell your friend you will continue to be there for her but you don't want to rush into adopting her baby. She's obviously in need of support but you don't have to pressured into adopting to keep doing this. I get the impression she's scared and just needs reassurance that you'll stay in the picture.

If you aren't married I don't think you can adopt the child unless she gives up her parental rights. Wait until you're sure about your relationship and are married before adopting the child.

u have to know she is really unstable right now. u promise to be there thru this whole kids life?

rock the baby back to sleep at 4 o'clock in the morning
help with a science project
help with the kid learn to read
be there through hard times
when the kid has her first bf
provide the kid with a healthy enviroment
pay for college and then walk her down the aisle
YOU MUST LOVE THE MOTHER

i think you need to wait it out and say that u will be there every step of the way no matter what

what if the bf has second thoughts? never know

I don't think you should. Because of the fact that it would change nothing. If your already caring for the child, and your not sure about these feelings you have then wait and think carefully about it. Because she could always leave you and demand child support seeing as how you would be her "legal" father.
