Should people with their own biological children be foster parents?

The Smart One!
I think it's ok as long as the parents don't show favoritism to their own children and treat them all the same.

Why not? They already know how to parent ad love a child. I think they would be great foster parents.

Um. From a former foster kids's perspective......

Only if the parents intend on treating the foster children the SAME as their biological children. If you can not do that, then No, you should not foster children.
Because foster kids self-esteem is already low. If you treat a foster child as a second-class citizen, it just makes their self-esteem less.

Also, I think you have to consider the age of the children. Foster children can require ALOT of work because they need so much. It might not be the best idea to foster kids when you have babies that need alot of attention for proper development.

I don't see why not, they have hands on experience. As long as they're good parents to both the biological and foster children, then yes, they should be allowed to have foster children.

Serenity71
They are people with parenting experience. Especially ones with adult children. So why not?

I don't see why not. if theres people who want more but don't want to conceive again. There's always children out there without homes. If the children are accepting to it. Exlpain the situation.

Yes! ...IF they are cut out for it, and IF they have taught their children all about it/ prepared them for what many foster children are struggling with, etc. God bless!

I think so and I think it matters to the one who is the child. Even a Foster parent is better than having no one.

of course. Any home with room and extra love is a perfect place for foster children.

proudmommy2
Why not?! They are taking in children and helping them have a better life...and they have brothers/sisters to interact with!

It may even be better if the parents already know how to raise children!

I don't think this is really a yes or no question. I think some kids in foster care would benefit being the only child in the home. They may need more one on one attention than a parent with other kids in the home can provide.

I don't see why not. If you have love to give, why not? Some arguements for would be that they already have parenting experience and are used to raising and dealing with children.

why shouldn't they????
