Should tax payers or natural mothers have "empathy" for the thousands of Aps....?

that are now losing their homes and trying to file for bankruptcy because they irresponsibly took out second mortgages and juggled cash advances from credit cards so they could get a baby?
How were they allowed to adopt with the strict international guidelines many Aps on here claim prevent this.
Did these Aps commit fraud by lying?
How is this giving a child a better life?

No, I don't pity them. I believe that when they made the decision to adopt someone else's infant, they were saying that they were better off financially, emotionally, physically and in every way than the single mother whose child they desired. Because they deemed themselves better than Nature to decide this, they will be held to the higher standard they claimed for themselves They are not the same as a natural family, because they claimed to be better than the natural family Nature intended that infant to be born to. |

So thousands of APs are facing bankruptcy because of financial decisions made in order to come up with the money for adoption fees?
Do you have any sort of verifiable evidence to support that or are you just throwing around allegations again?
Anyone can make poor financial decisions and now have to reap the rewards for it. People have a tendency to live beyond their means. As a tax payer and adoptive parent who is NOT facing bankruptcy or in danger of losing my home, I have empathy for those people caught in the middle of this economic crisis, no matter what their reasons were for getting involved.
Not that I expect you to have empathy for any adoptive parent in ANY situation or for ANY reason. |

People took out second mortgages and juggled credit cards for all kinds of reasons. The majority of those in crisis are not adoptive parents. The economic situation in the US is not related to adoption, and adoption is not applicable to the majority of cases where people are in trouble now.
Should the government NOT provide the same kind of assistance to adoptive parents as to anyone else? How is that discrimination justified, other than by someone's personal dislike of adoptive parents?
Yes, people made unwise decisions. Yes, the government is having to bail people out as a result. But singling out adoptive parents as either somehow more at fault, or less deserving of help, makes no sense in the current situation. |

What the heck?
Why is it unacceptable for an adopted kid to live in a trailer park or an apartment.... or to be living off welfare and food stamps? But it is okay for a biological kid?? Should all kids who's parents need some assistance be put up for adoption???
Heck no..
All parents struggle sometimes. Just because they are filling for bankruptcy does not make them a bad parent. My mom filled for bankruptcy when I was 7 or 8. I turned out JUST FINE... I'm even going to college *and can pay for it*. People need to relax a little bit. If I would have been put up for adoption because my family lost their home I would have been devastated. This is a pretty extreme question... but my answer is no we shouldn't feel sorry for them.... No one felt sorry for me and my mom. But to take their children away, or to deem them unfit to parent... is going way overboard. Take a chill pill. |

A lot of people are losing their homes not just people who have adopted. These are hard times for many families and people. Many people can’t pay for their home now a days so I guess all children (natural or adopted) should be removed from the home if their parents can’t pay the mortgage. Right now that would be a lot of kids.
As others have said anyone can make poor financial choices or simple come on to hard times financial. |

Nope. Just like I don't have empathy for anyone who overextended him or herself by buying a house (boat, car, fill in the blank here) and now feels that he or she should get a bailout free of charge. Um, excuse me? I make a decent salary but can't afford to own a home where I live (Hawaii), so I rent. Unless I remarry, I will NEVER be able to afford to own a home here. I realize that and although I don't love it, I live with it because it's MY CHOICE to live in such an expensive place. I don't expect anyone to help me out and if I couldn't afford to raise a child, I wouldn't have adopted one. I KNEW I couldn't afford an agency adoption, so I didn't go that route. It's not the government's OR the taxpayers' responsibility to bail me out of any financial mess I get myself into. Period. |

So.. you're fine with "strict financial guidelines" for adoptive parents.. does that go for biological parents too??
<cough> doublestandard <cough>
So.. aparents are not supposed to ask for help, and they're not supposed to take out mortgages to pay the adoption expenses either??
if it wasn't for something called health insurance.. women planning on starting a family biologically would have to come up with some way to pay the hospital bills, etc.... would you condemn them for taking out a second mortgage, and say... "it's their own blasted fault."
Again... adoption expenses are a ONE TIME thing. Whether or not you have an extra ten grand in your savings account is a COMPLETELY different matter than whether or not you can support a child day-to day.
My brother has two children (Biologically his) He can afford to rasie them. They have plenty of food, toys, etc.. health insurance means they'll be taken care of physically.. But does he have an extra $20 grand sitting in his account??? No.. if he wanted to adopt.. he'd have to find SOME way of coming up with that amount of money (a ONE TIME, ALL-AT--ONCE expense)
Quit using the "If you can't afford the $10 grand or $20 in adoption fees, then you can't afford a child."
That's simply not true... |

I have wondered this myself along with
why is it okay for them to divorce and continue to single parent?
what about when one of them passes away and the other is left to single parent?
Why is it okay for them to single parent and not a single parent?
Why is a trailer not a home if the bills are paid and there is food on the table?
Many great people have come from humble beginnings.
I hold no harsh feelings toward MOST AP's. But I do find humor in this question.
to answer it. No, no one felt sorry for us when we were single parents. |

We could have a yard sale to pay off their debts...otherwise they might end up living in a trailer park, right next door to the bio-mother.
ETA: These people will become dependent on welfare and will be a burden to the taxpayers. Since they are unable to pay for their home, they obviously are unfit.
Give the broke parents a few months to attend parenting and financial management classes. If they are still in bankruptcy, the children should be put up for adoption as quickly as possible. We don't want kids languishing in the homes of poor people. |
