I would contact the Child Protection Agency in your area immediately, they can check with the school and such to verify this is true. If time is very limited you should show up to court and raise these complaints, in which case the court should re-investigate - more often than not the judge will ask if there are any objections, and if you're not there then you obviously can't raise the objection.

And to clear this up - No people are not paid to adopt children, however, they do receive a $10k tax credit, and if they are "poor" they can collect wellfare money, food stamps, etc for the child - which may be more than they're receiving for foster care. Often times the state is worried about getting the child out of foster care (and off their "pay roll" there so to speak) and don't do very thorough investigations on adoptive parents. Many home studies are only 2 paragraphs long!

In my state, as in many others, if you adopt from foster care you can get either a lump sum payment or continued monthly payments until the child turns eighteen. In my state, if a child has medical special needs, those payments can be upwards of a thousand dollars a month. And once the child is adopted, rather than fostered, there are no more home visits to check on the child.

ETA II: Ah, I see. You mean adoption through DCFS. I was thinking of an agency or private adoption where the APs don't get paid for adopting.

As others have said, call Child Protective Services.

To others: If you adopt a child with special needs or what DHS considers hard to place (Usually over 5 years old) most states pay an adoption subsidy every month.

thats just horrible, call your local CPS office. i placed my daughter for adoption, just cause i couldnt take care of 2 kids on my own, & i thank you god everyday that she has loving parents, i didnt do it for tha money, i did it cause i love her, & im thinking maybe your talking about a foster parent, they get paid to keep children in their homes & thats where most foster children get abused until they get a real adoptive family.

Look in the government section of the white pages under Division of Family Services-Adoptions. Call and ask to speak whomever is over the department and you can tell them anonymously and ask them to investigate. You can also call the child abuse hotline anonymously and report it and let them investigate. If she is a foster parent, she does receive a monthly stipend for the fosterchild if she's on welfare. Whomever said people are not paid to adopt, in a sense they are. It's called an adoption subsidy.
If you don't make a lot of money you will automatically receive this until the child turns 18 or 21 in college. (Depends on your state)
I encourage you to report this mooch for the child's sake.

You need to call CPS immediately.

Yes, the a/mother would get SSA as that is based on a biological parents disability or a survivor benefit. She may also get a subsidy amount and could get both at the same time. This may equate to a lot of money.

Sadly, she is not the only money mooch who has resorted to adopting frfom SS.

Call CPS immediately and make sure you have facts....otherwise the referral will be screened out.
