I think it's a great idea. There are soooo many children that need homes, and if you and your mom can provide for another child, I think that is amazing.

Tell her to have another one of her own, or become a foster parent.

I don't understand the question. Is your mother thinking of adopting a child or surrendering one?

I think more girls should get abortions so they don't have to live or deal with the REPERCUSSIONS of adoption.

Ok. Just think of the child for a moment, the child's family. Imagine they are a close family, maybe just poverty is in the way, or a young woman hasn't been given options to help her raise her own child. Would you want to take a child out of their family, their origins? I understand the fact people want to help children and that is commendable but does it have to be at the expense of others? Maybe your mother could look at other ways to help children other like foster care.

I suggest really researching adoption as it isn't as rosy as it is portrayed in the media. It isn't a win-win situation. Not all natural families are child abusers unable or undeserving to care for their own children; some just lack the resources so instead of severing ties between a child and their family, a person should try to help them stay together. You could gain valuable new friendships; an honorary 'member' of the family, a place in a child and his/her family's life and the knowledge you gave this family the best gift of all: the ability to stay with their own family.

All the best during this decision making time. And Happy New Year!

Just to let you know. My husband and I adopted a girl. He could not have kids after a long time of trying and tests done. We were foster parents for 4 years and then one of our foster kids came up for adoption and we decided yes, oh yes. We are so glad we did. She has a big brother from my first marriage and he is very protective of her. We are so glad that we did. I would do it again.

Adoption not only concern your mum alone, it concern each & every members of the family. You all must be able to provide time, love, care n concern from all, able to provide education till the child to at least 18 years old. If all these criteria can be met, adoption will be a good idea.

I think that adopting a child that doesnt have a family or know what love really is from a parent or even a sister/brother. it can be the most precious gift you can give to them.

yes! it's a good idea. but just to be sure that your adopting the right baby, go have some background checks. coz there's this case, i have a friend's relative, they were adopting a child, later on they found out that the family of their adopted child is a criminal.. ( who knows, that baby is a criminal too when he/she grows up) just don't get me wrong. im not threatening you.

I think that your mother should have one or adopt one either is good as long as you is cool with that.

Dom
well adoption is a great idea you should have your family discuss it all together and all agree with it but after you have brothers and sisters its not the same after being the only child .well i was for 9 years and when my sister adopted sister came everything changed and she got all the attention and so does my brothers. good luck

I think that adopting is one of the most selfless acts one can do.
You should give your mother a big hug!

I think it's a great idea. People should adopt than I have babies. If people adopt there will be less children in the orphanages and there would be less children that would be in the streets. It's great to have a little sis or bro.

well, it is your moms decision, so if she doesn't want the baby, then she can put it up for adoption, all though, if she's able to take care of you, i see no problem in being able to take care of another child, but it is her decision.

YYZ
I think it's a good idea!

Adoption is a wonderful thing my uncle and his wife have 2 children both adopted. It also give you the possibility of getting an older child and not starting with the baby stage again.
