We want to adopt, do you think we have a chance?

We live in England. We have one 2 year old son but I am 38 and had a horrific childbirth and I can't have another child now.

My husband is Asian and I am Caucasian. Would this be a good thing or a bad thing for us? I know they don't allow you to have a child outside your own ethnicity these days. We have room in our heart and our home to take another baby.

What are our chances do you think? I haven't asked anyone yet. We're still thinking about it but if possible we'd like to have an Indian female child as we don't have a daughter but we'd be happy with whatever we got - like it is when you get pregnant. Same thing.You are just grateful for the child you get and that's enough.

What do you think our chances are? I don't want to get excited if it couldn't happen.

I have not seen this being an issue. In fact, there are so many children who are biracial or from racial minorities that they cannot find homes for all of them. These are children that are considered hard to place. Look at the children that are adopted from other countries, too.

I don't think race will be the biggest issue. You are married with a child, and that should only help you.

Just share a recent conversation w you. Met this French couple who've just migrated to Singapore. They got the baby on the week they arrived! They told me it was amazing so I guess it was normally not as easy. Anyway, thought should just type this out 'cos that means there is hope!!!

If you feel you would like to adopt go for it. asking questions on this site will get you no further forward. Every organisation is different every council is different. as far as you and your partner being of different races what is the problem. go make enquiries today. Anyone can adopt and it doesn't matter what your nationality is. As long as you have a great background when they check you and your husband out I would go for it, so many babies and children need a good home like yours. I wish I had the money to adopt, I would adopt at least 2 and ages doesn't matter to me. Good Luck and Best wishes to you and your family. there are a few rules when adopting, but not as many as people think!
you can choose whether or not to have other raced babies or not, you can choose whether you want a certain age range etc obviously the more you narrow down your options then the longer you may have to wait, but you get forms to fill out asking you questions on potential babies you want to adopt!
go to your local adoption place and enquire there!

I think it's wonderful that you want to adopt, especially in when there aren't many adoptions in different ethnic backgrounds. But the whole process can be quite lengthy and there are also some problems to consider. Such as the religion of the baby? Which social services can be kind of strict about, but it is something which you can focus on. Adoption is definitely an option you should consider and you have as much chance as everyone else who wants to adopt.

there crying out for people to adopt or foster....enquire about it. there is a webb sight if you just google it,i think the agencies are more relaxed than years ago ...go for it ....its nice that you can offer someone a loving and caring enviroment ..good luck
