Im looking to adopt a cat and I have been using petfinder.com and Craigslist. What websites did you use to find your pet? Im looking for a cat if you have any websites in mind please let me know.. THANKS

Well my cat is 15 years old, but my parents got him almost 14 years ago at the SPCA. A lot of shelters are now using petfinder just to show pictures of their animals. I would be careful on craigslist because anyone can post there even if they have an animal or not. I know someone who was tricked into going and they had already sold the cat they wanted and the one that was left started freaking out at scratching. Just be smart about the kind of information they are giving out and why they might want to be giving the animals up.
P.S. This is not the area about animals it is about children.
*Edit: even if you see on petfinder a cat that you like you are still going to have to go in and fill out applications. Also, they want to see if you two will match based on personality* |

Go to the spca in your town and view them in person. You can tell there personalities better. |

call your local rescue groups, or your humane officer.

Use Google to find your local animal shelters. Chances are a few of them have websites with pictures and information on animals needing homes. Here's a link to a shelter in my local area: http://www.animalhouseshelter.com/catadopt.asp

I only use pet finder and look for animals that are being adopted out by organizations like shelters, etc. Sorry don't know of any other one |

Check the local papers. Ours has a section where all the local shelters can post the animals they have. I also have typed in your state and SPCA . That should get you some hits! |
