What Age Child Would You Prefer To Adopt?

Additional Details
Anna....I work with children who will be adopted. Taking a survey to see what the OPINION is out there. Go ahead and lighten up.

SOURCE: My grandparents were foster parents for over 30 years and adopted six children...most froma sibling set, in addition to the six biological children they had.

Just seeing what the current opinion is out there.

I lived my life in foster homes and orphanages from the age of 13 and beyond. I would take teens because everyone assumes that they are horrible and do not want them. I was judged before anyone even laid eyes upon me. All I wanted was a family, and just one person in this world to love me. It is hard to walk through life alone at such a young age. No one but yourself to turn to. I would take teens for this very reason, the loneliness they feel is indescribable!

I would like to adopt a teen. Because they are the ones most people don't want to adopt and they need someone to take care of and love them to.

I'd like to have mostly older kids like 11, 12, 13

maybe one 1 to 5 year old.

Really, if I fell in love with them, it wouldn't matter what age they were.

I'd want to adopt a sibling group, so I'd be happy with whatever ages. I figure with a sibling group, at least they get to grow up with some biological relative. Single adoptees don't get that.

I would want to adopt a child (or children) that is anywhere between 7 and 12 years old. I'd want to show them that there really is someone who cares about them and will love them no matter what.

We did want to adopt a toddler, but ended up (thrilled to bits though!) with a sibling group of 4,5,6.

While I think I may miss having that younger age, I will be too busy having fun with my kids!

The age would depend on how old I was when I was planning to adopt. If it was with in the next 7 to 12 years I’d probably take a child that was between 0 to 9 years old.

One day i would have no problem adopting a pre-teen or teenagers. However i'd do it when i was older like mid to late 40's early 50's. There are some places that require the PAP to be so many years older then the child they are going to adopt.

I adopted children from China at very different ages, so I can honestly say that EVERY age is the best age to adopt, but some ages were easier than others!

My first child was eight months old, and it was wonderful to have the experience of parenting a very little baby. She is a very sweet, loving and intelligent young lady of 12 now, and has been a joy every moment.

My second child was 10 years old when I brought her home from China, and my younger daughter was 4 at the time, so that was a bit of a challenge. She was a PERSON, not a baby, and already had a very strong personality, and a whole lifetime of experience. It was very important for me to respect her stance on many issues, to give her some space, etc. She is 17 now, and while she is doing the usual teen eye-rolling boy-crazy thing, she has been a good, responsible girl, and is doing beautifully in school after a lot of struggles.

My youngest daughter was adopted at age 4, and is now 6. This was a bit difficult at first, because she was at the age that it must have felt to her as though she was being kidnapped. She was very attached to her foster grandma in China, but the latter had been told that she couldn't adopt her. She was terrified and weepy at first, but with the resilience of a young child, she became irrevocably attached to me within a couple of months. She is now a very confident first-grader, with a delightful sense of humor and a dazzling smile.

Each age had its challenges, but they were all wonderful ages to adopt!

I'm really not sure what part of inquiring about adoption is self centered at all. If you were self centered, you wouldn't want children of any age. Personally, I wouldn't mind adopting a child of any age if I was in the right situation. A lot of people seem to prefer infants, but I wouldn't mind bypassing the diaper changes and having to wake up in the middle of the night to a screaming baby phase.

Since Im planning on international adoptiong I am thinking 0-5. This way they will have a year to adjust to living in the united states and learning english before being expected to start school. Im not expecting they be perfect or caught up in only one year but its a great head start. Im leaning more towards a 3-4 year old. There are so many people who want babies so I know they will be adopted.

Im 20 years old and have had three miscarriages already. So I think at my age I would better be able to handle a child from the age of infant to two years old. It is something My husband and I are really considering. Im not really sure how to start but once we get the money saved up we plan on finding a great adoption agency in our area. i would love to help an older child but i think my age would cause some issues.

0-4yrs. any age after that, a significant amount of their personality is affirmed and any influences on the child may nt be my own.

Fcuk that is so self centered

Why does it matter what age the child is.
No matter what age they are they still need someones love and support. But it cant be yours right cause then they "wouldnt feel like your own"

In my opinion adoption shouldnt be about the adopted parents wants or needs it should be about helping out a kid who need love, support and care.
