I think your chances are great, especially with the age range you are choosing because most people want smaller children. My husband and I are going to become foster parents and adopt through the foster care system in our state. We were told that due to three blood clotting disorders that I have, I shouldn't have children. I've fallen in love with the idea of adopting through the foster care. Best of luck with your adoption. I hope you have a quick, wonderful experience. |

Why don't you get licensed as a foster parent and test the waters before you adopt someone half your age? You might be phenomenal with them, or you might become overwhelmed. Good luck! |

I just want to say thats it nice to see somebody like you. 19 years old, and wanting to adopt. if you are looking for a child age 7-10 - I think you are going to have lots of luck.
best of luck to you. |

If you become a foster parent you odds will increase. If the child in your care comes up for adoption you will be the first choice. Good luck |

I would be surprised if they would let you adopt a child that you were only 9 years older than. I don't think your age will be a problem though. Neither will your marital status. You may want to adopt a child slightly younger so it will be a parent child relationship rather than a sibling relationship.
Good luck. |

I'm not sure but I'm soo happy that you've decided to adopt, especially someone in that age range because they are usually the ones left behind. COngratulations and good luck. |

Why not become a foster parent first,it would really help with adoption. |

Your chances are pretty high depending on the agency you go through. Not to be rude, but because you are not famous like Angelina Jolie and Madonna, they may request that you and your fiance are married before fully considering your application. The reason for this is because most want to make sure that it is a stable home with a mother and father and that the children won't be abandoned if one or the other parent suddenly leaves (because there is nothing binding them).
Good luck! |

I don't know if they would give you a child that old and I think you have to be at least 21 to adopt anyway... I know there are exceptions here in NC.
You may not want to hear this but I think you should wait until you are a little older to adopt because 19 is really young to make such a committment.
You should try foster care first |
