I think the parents should move to the child's country of origin, relinquish their heritage, their name and their entire family, destroy all documentation and ID and assume a new identity.

Perhaps then they might know vaguely how it feels

i am all for it. My husband and I are planning to adopt multiple children from ethiopia. We have both spent time there and love the culture and the people. I think foreign adoption is wonderful, as long as the to-be-parents educate themselves on their adopted babies culture and in turn the babies different needs.

We adopted two school age siblings from Liberia. I could write a book on the entire experience, from the life-altering perceptions of seeing how most of the other world lives, to adjusting our lives to help our children with their transitions and learning to parent children that come from an entirely different world than we did.

No offense, but people who worry about taking children out of their culture should try living in an African orphanage for awhile, during a bloody civil war, while alternately starving and being shot at. Or maybe see what it's like to have a bunch of armed thugs show up in your village and kidnap all of the boys.

Cultural needs CAN be addressed outside of the child's country of origin. Safety, security and health needs often CANNOT be addressed inside the child's country of origin.

And no offense, but when people say that there are US children that need homes, I always ask if that means that my children don't deserve a safe, loving, secure home, simply because they weren't fortunate enough to be born in a First World country.

International adoption isn't for everyone. After much researching and soul-searching, we decided it was best for our family. I believe that the choice of an adoption route is very personal and very unique for the family. I have no problem with ethical US infant adoptions and no problem with ethical foster adoptions. I'd love to have the same courtesy, but that doesn't always happen.

Every child, regardless of race, national origin, religion, background, deserves a safe, loving and secure home. International adoption is one way to provide a home for a child who needs one. I think that would be the most important thing.

All babies need a family to love them. If it is something you would like to do go for it! I think it's great that there are such caring people in this world that adopt :)

we adopted our daughter from Colombia and it was a wonderful experience. I would do it again!! All children should have a loving happy nurturing home with people who can care for them. It is not easy for some birth mothers to put their child up for adoption especially in another country. but they make the decision because they care about the welfare of their baby and want them to have a happy life one they may not be able to offer.

All for adoption as long as the birth parents are aware its adoption (There have been many scams on birth parents lately because of the $$) My sister nannied for a woman that adopted two little girls from China. It was a wonderful experience for the whole family and they still raise them knowing about China, have some of that culture in their home etc. They also have been fortunate enough to go back a few times. Adoption is so wonderful, it gives a little child many opportunities over their lifetime they might not otherwise have.

Whatever
Should never be allowed Because you are Taking the child away from the Family and its Culture. the child at least should be brought up with its own Cultural heritage that is important for everyone
