What do you know about adoption?

what does anyone know about adoption in the US?..what are the requirements? anyone know any good places to adopt from in the US?

It actually depends on the state. Private adoption is a little different than adopting through foster care. In private you have to prove that you have enough money for the adoption. In foster care adoption you just have to prove that you can afford to have a family not that you can afford to pay for one. In both you need a homestudy complete with background checks and a physical. It takes about 3-4 months to get the homestudy done. I truly cannot recommend foster care adoption enough. There are so many children who need good homes and they are such incredibly wonderful kids.

What I know:

Adoption in the US is a business built on separating families needlessly so that agencies can make lots of money from the sale of healthy, white infants. The requirements are that you have lots of money and that you believe it's a good thing to separate families unnecessarily.

You could choose to adopt from foster care, which is free. The requirements are more stringent, but children in foster care actually NEED homes other than the ones they were born to. However, a better option would be to help families stay together whenever possible.
