I don't feel that a father in particular is necessary, but being unmarried does make it harder to adopt.
In my experience as long as the child has a positive male role model and you don't introduce the child to every guy you date, then you should be okay.
A positive male role model can be anything from a close male friend who is around a lot to your own father who would be the child's grandfather.
I'm not going to lie to you though, being a single parent is harder than if you had help, and there will be a lot more questions to answer because there isn't a Daddy in the picture. |

I think it's a plus. I obviously surrendered my first child but raised my son's alone for years before getting married. The same can be said in reverse. I know fathers who raised and are raising their children alone. It would be a plus to have a mother around, but it is still a family. You do the best you can with what you got. |

No. You don't need a father for them, but a father-figure. Someone with good traits they can learn from an look up to. A mentor. As long as you have someone like that already in your life, then you don't need a hubby. |

If you can give a loving home to a child who desperately needs one, one parent is better than no parents or home at all. Therefore, I feel that when adopting, it doesn't matter if there is only one parent. This child needs you, and stability. The two parent/white pickett fence ideal applies to planning your own natural children. For those children already out there with no hope, my opinion is that one parent is just fine. |

No, just make sure if you want to adopt without a father that you have what it takes. Money, a good home, etc. |
