I lost contact with my first mother years ago and we are just now in contact again. I want to get her something for a Christmas gift that is more personal and shows how much she means to me.

I love the idea of a scrapbook of your childhood, those are memories she will never have, so if you can give her some insight to you and your upbringing, I think that would mean the world to her.
I personally am giving her a charm bracelet with various charms that reflect me and my interests.
I also really like the idea that someone else said about a necklace. You can give her a locket with a picture of you as a baby and a current picture.

I agree with the other people who said either photos or a scrapbook. I treasure photos myself and love looking at albums and pictures from the past. I'm sure she'd love to see pictures of you as you were growing up. |

A scrapbook with pictures and life's details, such as when you got your first teeth, kissed your first boyfriend/girlfriend (I didn't look at your avatar), vacation details, birthday pictures, school pictures, copies of your report cards, etc.
Make it artistic, and there's hundreds of fast ways to make pages. If you don't have enough time to make it before Christmas, put a few pages in it, with lots of blank pages, labled "future memories here" on the first empty one. |
