What is a pro and cons of public adoption and private adoption?

Public is using an agency. It is more expencive but a TON more secure than private. It also is usually quicker. I like an agency because you don't have to deal with screening the expectant parent. I want time to bond and talk about her as a person. Let the agency deal with the drug tests, pregnancy screening, family history...ect. The downside besides price is finding a good agency. I would honestly place the percentage of decent agencies at less then half. It takes a lot of research and time to choose one. Then you better hope you chose right because you will be stuck in a contract for 2 years!
Private is cheaper. That is the main reason people choose to go that route. I was just too nervous to get scammed. I couldn't afford the loss.
Advertising is all on the PAP's and mailing things to abortion clinics and putting their profile everywhere. Its a lot of work to save that money! Sometime's when you factor in all the advertising, websites, 800 numbers, scams and failed adoptions it can end up more expencive than if you went with an agency.

Public adoption has been referred to as 2 different things. First can be where it is done through public office, such as the foster care system. Second, where the records are available for viewing by all parties involved, and in few cases, by the public.

Private adoption is adoption that is done between 2 parties, sometimes with the help of a facilitator, and/or agency. Most states have the records in private, not for viewing ever, by anybody, without a court order. Very rarely, private adoption records are available for all parties, with the consent before they're recorded being in place before the adoption is done.

Both have advantages, and both have disadvantages, depending on what part of the triad you're on.

I am wondering what you mean by public adoption. There are closed adoptions where there is no exchange of identifying information and there open adoptions where the pregnant person can choose the family for her child. It all depends on the person whether they prefer open or closed. In any case adoption records are sealed.
Private adoptions or those done without an agency are usually between people who already know each other. Like a friend of a friend wants to adopt and someone knows a pregnant woman wanting adoption so they are in a sense "matched" that way.
