Go to http://www.petfinder.com/
They have listed felines in your area with pictures and descriptions.
Thank you for deiciding on shelter adoption as oppose to adopting out of the paper or other.
There are so many shelter animals that need homes and so little people who are willing to give them. |

We have a heinz57 mutt and she is the best cat in the world, short haired but so ugly she is cute. I answered an ad in the paper for free kittens. |

go to the humain society and see which one interacts with you and your family the best.. I don't think breeds have anything to do with it. |

domestic short haired, or maybe siamese. But why not adopt a shelter cat? You can find the perfect hybrid to suit your needs and be saving a poor helpless animal. For much less then from a breeder, and you can probably find an expensive breed there if you look if your dead set on a purebred. But honestly, the cutest cat I ever knew was a kitten i rescued off the street. He got fixed up at the vet and grew up to be gorgeous. And most cats at the pound are short haired. You may want to post this under "cats" though because the nutters who use the adoption forum for a support group aren't going to like a question about a cat lol.
ETA- Siamese (or any cat with little hair) kittens can sometimes have extra needs to keep warm when they're kittens, but I'm pretty sure a little sweater would take care of it |

The "breed" of most cats is just plain cat, aka domestic shorthair. If you ask at the shelter they may be able to help you choose the right cat. Tell them whether or not you have kids, other pets, etc.
Psst--try the "pets" section. |

British short haired are the best.. Cuddly, love affection, gentle in nature. How did this end up in the human adoption section? Oh well, I love cats so I'm glad to you're looking to give a home to a kitty cat who needs one. |
