What is the easiest way to adopt a newborn domestically to where we don't have to pay an agency?

We have lost $11K to an adoption agency that hasn't done anything for us. Where can potential adoptive parents and birthparents find each other?

You will have to pay somebody--if not an agency, then a lawyer or facilitator, and they are often much more expensive. Sometimes lawyers or facilitators help adoptive parents and birth parents find each other; sometimes they only do the paperwork after you do the finding yourself, using the internet, ads, flyers posted in clinics, networking, things like that. You don't say why the agency hasn't worked out for you--is it possible they're just moving slowly? We felt for a whole two years that our agency wasn't doing anything for us--it was VERY frustrating--but when the time came, they did everything for us. Best of luck to you.

I went through the local department of social services. They work and they don't charge you anything.
Good Luck!

Hey, it's not your fault that your agency didn't do their job! Don't listen to the creeps telling you otherwise!

If you are *done* with the whole agency-facilitated adoption process, your best bet would be to seek to adopt through your state or county "foster-to-adopt" program. Usually these programs are free, including the homestudy. Otherwise, it's like the previous poster said - you do have to pay someone - either an agency or a lawyer to help facilitate legal private adoptions between birthmother and adoptive parents.

Sorry to hear your journey's been tough so far --- I hope you and your child find each other very soon!

We are in a simular situation as yourself. We are going to go back on Parentprofiles website. It is tough because you get the good and the bad but you do get contacted a lot.

Good luck!

Any "way" you choose to adopt, agency, private, surrogate, foster, will cost you money. Foster care is the least expensive way, but a newborn may be hard to come by there. I would recommend finding a "reputable" agency. The best agencies have money back guarantees, meaning, if the birth mother chooses to parent after placement and before revocation ends, you do not pay, and are placed back in the pool of waiting parents.

You must know that your money is for social workers, agency workers/paperwork, attorney's, any medical care not covered by the b mother's insurance, or medicade, dna testing if necessary, court costs, etc.,

Again, fostering is the least expensive way, but there are no guarantees there for a newborn or even a toddler unless they parental rights are already relinquished. Fostering can be difficult emotionally as well, if you become attached to a child, then are forced to return him/her to their birth parents.

I would stay the course. Adoption is an emotional rollercoaster. Find a way to come up with the fee. Sacrifice any over indulged things in your life, or "cut back". There is no fee I would not have paid my agency. We stayed the course, downsized, watched our spending, and were blessed with a 4 week old baby girl. I worked two jobs, and saved enough so that now I can work one from home so that I can be the primary caretaker for her.

You can do it. Think outside of the box, and go for it, afterall, you want to Parent, and that baby will come to you!

GO AND TALK TO THE FOSTER AGENCY AROUND WERE YOU LIVE.BECAUSE THEIR ARE A LOT OF KIDS THAT NEED HOMES. AND THEIR ARE A LOT OF KIDS FROM NEW BORNS TO ANY AGE. YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT DO YOU WANT A CHILD THAT HAS A MEDICAL PROBLEM? I WAS SITTING HERE IN TN. AND THEIR WAS A CHILD BORN HOOKED ON DRUGS AND THE MOTHER LAST THE CHILD BECAUSE OF IT. AND THEIR NEED A FAMILY TO TAKE THE CHILD AND NOBODY WANTED THE CHILD BECAUSE SHE WAS HOOKED ON DRUGS. THAT WAS SAD. IF I HAD EXTRA ROOM AND MORE MONEY I WOULD HAVE TAKE THE CHILD IN A HEART BEAT. SO JUST THAT TO THE FOSTER AGENCY AND HUMAN SERVICE AND THEY MAY CAN HELP YOU WITH THIS PROBLEM.JUST DON'T GET UP SET,JUST STEP BACK AND DON'T GIVE UP. THEIR ARE KIDS OUT THEIR THAT NEED PARNETS LIKE YOU. GOOD LUCK.

Hi there

There is a website you can try it is called parent profile they have lots of birth mothers and families on it.

I have looked at the website as i am looking for an ideal family for my unborn baby that is due in 3months as i want to help people with adopting.

I would recommend fostering to adopt/ adoption through foster care. Its rare for a newborn to be ready for adoption but, it happens. If you foster to adopt you would get a child as a newborn but, you would have to wait for them to terminate parental rights. Anything can happen in between, a relative can step in to take baby, the parents could start working their plan to get baby back. You do have repeat parents who have lost all their kids and they keep having more and get those taken. Thats a child you would know will be available for adoption because the worker will have all the birthmoms info. Here are some sites with forums to chat with others who are foster/adopt parents. I'm tancee on both forums.

Adopting a fosterchild through your local county agency doesn't cost anything. Neither does the processing. Some states do pay anywhere from 0$0-$500 for your court filling fee. Also you pay for your adoption decree and new birth certificate. Most states reimburse you for everything you spend up to a certain amount when adopting a fosterchild.

There is no way you should have lost 11K to any agency!

There are still many ethical, reputable agencies that have a "no money up front" and "guaranteed fee" policy. They do not receive any money from you unless they place a baby in your arms! I'm sorry that you, unfortunately, did not select one of these.

That being said, you can now:
1. Take your chances again with an attorney (where there is certainly no refund or guarantee at all if the birthmother decides to parent).
2. Advertise and network on your own, which means taking calls from potential birthmothers and screening them yourself. Good idea to provide her with counseling and an attorney to work for her, though!
3. Work through your state's child protective services program and foster-adopt.
4. Choose another agency, but this time, do your homework and find an agency which protects your adoption plans and finances (and hearts!).

Sorry.......good luck!
