What were your reasons for adoption?

Which time? Our first adoption took place when we were living overseas. We were newly married at the time and like a lot of couples we had already talked about having some children and "maybe one day adopting". Well, we found ourselves in a situation where we could adopt first so we did and then we had another child "the old fashion way". Two years ago when I came back from a deployment to Afghanistan my wife told me she had learned more about our local DSS adoptions and within 6 months we were the foster parents of a 4 day old and she was cleared for and adopted by the time she was 6 months old. The rest is history although we are waiting for a call for another (final) adoption.
Both times we just figured we had enough love to share and the ability to share it that we chose to adopt. |

My husband and I haven't started the adoption process yet, however because I had a kidney transplant 14 years ago I was told it would be best for me not to have a baby (too many possible risks). |

My husband and I most likely could have had our own children. However, due to the fact that I have a chronic pain disease, pregnancy may have been hard for me. So we decided to adopt, because we both wanted to be parents. I am adopted myself, and wanted to share the same love with my children, that my parents gave to me. We have 2 adopted children. A son who is 20 and a daughter who is 17. |

Our daughter became a part of our family as a teenager. We all wanted to make it legal so after she became an adult and could consent to her own adoption, we adopted her. |

I have always wanted to adopt and have biological children. I wanted to adopt a baby or older child that needed a home. To make a long story short I knew a woman that didn't want her kids. They were 9 months & 23 months old. She was abusing drugs and doing other harmful things and ended up pregnant but had never wanted kids in the first place so we ended up adopting them. She kept them that long because she didn't want just anyone to have them. She still visits with them sometimes. |

We adopted a beautiful baby girl two years ago. She is the love of our lives.
Our reasons? We were never able to have children of our own. God brought to us a young pregnant girl who chose to have us raise her child. So began the adoption process.
It is the greatest thing ever. We are in touch with the birth mother & she still to this day (two years later at age 16) tells us how lucky she is and how thankful she was to have chosen us. This was all God's plan. |
