What would be your holiday wish in adoption?

Both individual and systemic/reform?
I don't think I am allowed to put my thoughts because then I am engaging in chat and can get my question deleted. (still learning the ropes a year later!)

My wish would be to see my son, just a fleeting glance would be enough.
Reform wise I would like to see ALL adoptees able to obtain their OBC. |

Looney Tunes

That there is NO need for a foster care system. |

No more sealed records!
All I wanted for Christmas was my birth certificate. |

To make prospective parents sign a legal contract that they would do their best in keeping the link to the country of origin alive.
Sure, there are many kids who do not care about their birth countries. But then, there's always quite a few who DO care. |

Individual wish - open adoption records so family members lost in the Era of Mass Surrender can reconnect
System - end adoption as a unregulated money-making industry. All members of the triad would be better served by eliminating payoffs to the "middleman" (includes federal government "incentives" paid to states and outrageous "service" fees paid to lawyers and agency adoption workers). |

That every first parent has the opportunity to know how their child is doing.
Unsealed records. |

Individual: That there would be no need for adoptive parents in the first place.
Systemic: That every single PAP who was approved to adopt would have to complete a whole lot more requirements prior to approval. I'd add on reading the books:
Journey of the lost self
Twenty things adopted kids wish their adoptive parents knew
Primal wound
Helping children cope with separation and loss
Lost and found
Beyond consequences, logic, and control
I'd also add on a complete psych eval and an interview with Gavin DeBecker to determine a person's likelihood of abusing their future children.
There are a lot more changes I'd like to see, but those top my list, personally. |

my wish: to find my birth family, and to have the reunion i have thought about
my wish for others: that all records would be unsealed and people would have the right to get their birth certificate, and know the details that are rightfully there! |

My wish would be to give children a forever family by adopting, so they don't ever have to worry about not having a family. Any age child as they all need a loving family and not a foster home. |

to be a mother is all i want for this Christmas and all Christmas to come it does not matter if the child was from me (if that could happen but i can not have children) or from another woman all i want is to be a mother |

That all unwanted babies find loving homes. There are so many people who want a child. |

My holiday wish is that all the mothers who face this crisis would place their children in the arms of loving families who so desperatly want to be parents. This is the ultimate gift a person can give is to do what is honorable and right rather to think selfishly of one's own needs. I wish for homes for all the orphans worldwide as every child deserves a loving nurturing home. |
