Whats your take on Madonna trying to adopt yet another child from Malawi ?

I think she is doing it as a fashion statement personnally. I think she is doing it because Angelina Jolie adopted 3 from foreign countrys.

Not A Supermum!
I think the press are more than likely only giving us the worst parts of the story. Like anything, I can't judge as I'm not close enough to tyhis particular situation to know enough about it. For all we know, the 'grandmother' of this new child could be a poor parent. Perhaps Madonna is trying to do a good deed and is yet again being met with hostility by the British media?
Then again, they may be painting an accurate picture. Who knows?

While I admit I am judging without knowing the full story, I find it troubling.

Madonna is in the process of going through a divorce, and I think that a time of such upheaval is not the point to bring another child into the family, especially through adoption of a non-relative. This little girl will have enough trouble adjusting to a new living situation and culture, without her adoptive mother and siblings distracted and potentially grieving over the divorce. Children should be adopted into stable homes, not used to try to stabilize homes already in a state of crisis.

I'm bothered that in spite of all the children available for adoption and waiting for homes-- including tens of thousands in the United States, where Madonna plans to be primarily located following the divorce-- she insists upon Malawi, where international adoption is frowned upon, if not outright illegal, and there are grave concerns among the citizens about the future of this child. It seems odd that she demands a child from Malawi, where it's so controversial she seems downright unwanted, rather than providing a home to a child who wouldn't create such turmoil-- or such publicity. The choice of Malawi seems self-serving.

I'm also disturbed that Madonna continually presses for the adoption of children whose families do not wish the adoptions to go forward, and who hope to get their children back someday and are working toward that goal. It seems very much a product of Western consumer culture that Madonna feels she has a right to choose any child she wishes, regardless of what the family and home country say.

I have nothing against Madonna as a person in general, but I feel the way she does adoption is severely flawed. Her timing is terrible, given the divorce and instability in her existing family, and in this adoption as well as the previous one, her wants and desires seem to be getting in the way of a sense of ethics, or a view of compassion that applies to more people than just the single cute child she wants in her home. I think her priorities, at least to this observer, seem very skewed.

the 1st thing that came to my mind is if someone ordinary 50yr old went to adopt would they be allowed at that age???

My first guess is that she wants to parent another child. Why does anyone adopt children?

I think she should have adopted children from a country where can actually legally adopt.

Haven't seen the stuff on the kids family so idk anything about that, but she should not have even tried to do the first adoption let alone a second from Malawi. They only let her do this at all because she bought the government/orphanage off with lots of $$$$. Its very creepy and unethical in my opinion.

My take is "YUCK".

I dont see anything wrong with it, she has the money, these children
are almost dying, malnourished, mothers cannot take care of them
if I was living under those conditions of course I would be giving my
child away. Of course Madonna is a celebrity and there is some
controversy but I dont see her neglecting her other children, they look
well taken care of, well feed, they will have the best education, what
more do they want. I wish I had a lot of money to help underprivileged
children.

The child will be better off than what he is now, he'll have food, shelter, and clothes.
BUT, the publicity might be to much from a child coming from where he is.
I think Madonna's just following this little trend, but she could be saving a life.
