When will foster parents realize that they are as much as the problem (as much as internationally adoptive...?

parents) with regards to supporting a horrible system in need of major reform) for children-- foster and adopt processes?

You won't very nice remarks in here for that question. Most of the people in here only like to blame non foster-adopt adoptive parents for supporting corruption and mismanagement.

To answer: I don't know if they'll ever admit it. Good point to bring up though.

Hi Mia,

Foster parents are not the problem with the adoption system. Perhaps you do not understand that foster parents are not creating any demand for children to become available. Children are placed with foster families until more permanent arrangements can be made for them, whether that be back with their families or with an adoptive family. Either way, the foster parents have nothing to do with the decisions.

On the other hand, there are demands created for children from other countries to go directly into adoptive homes in the U.S. Proof of this is the waiting list many years long to adopt internationally. There is no waiting list to adopt from foster care. It's the opposite. Once PAPs are approved, children can be placed with them right away. The only waiting would be if the PAPs put too many restrictions on which child they would be willing to love. There are over 100,000 children waiting right now, so I fail to see the logic in your premise there that foster parents are responsible for that.

I would recommend researching this subject more thoroughly.

Mia:

I agree with you that the system needs MAJOR reform. Right there. But, please, do NOT blame the foster parents.

They don't make the choices and they actually have VERY little say as to what happens to the child. The system is in charge.

Now: Should the system get better foster parents...in many cases yes.
Should the system pay more benefits to take care of children...yes.
Should the system make sure that foster parents are doing a good job...yes.
Should the system make sure that children are safe in the foster parent's homes....yes
etc
etc
etc

But it's not the foster parents you should be after...It is the system and the government who don't give a dam about children.

Maybe cause they are tryin to do some good and give homeless kids a home!!!!!!!!!

Not a foster parent yourself then?
just a hypocrite!!!!!!!!

Here's a solution to your personal fear of being rejected by a man that wants to have children.
Go see a therapist to address your insecurities. They will help you see that your projecting your bitterness in the wrong direction as well as lay out a healthy way to deal with not being able to have children. Start dating older men. They have a tendancy to not want to have anymore children.

Total morons! With nothing 2 do.
The problem is if there were not foster parents then we would have orphanages again.
I would rather have foster parents caring for children that are in horrible situations than to have them in a child mill like an orphanage.
But the system does need a huge reform. But that will never happen because in the governments eyes it is working.

Wow. Foster parents aren't the problem. They are opening their homes and hearts to children who's parents are worthless. The foster parents give so much to these kids, what a bad thing to say.

I believe that you have mislabeled your 'rant' as a 'question'. Perhaps if you either gave more information, or framed your situation differently, you will be able to get a better response.

And your solution would be?

What would you like to happen to the children in foster care?

Do we just leave them to linger while you come up with a game plan?

GEE-GEE
Where would you like all of the foster children go. Where would you like all the children that are born to people who do not want them go? Foster parents and adoptive parents are not the problem. If people who got pregnant were all responsible, and were able to take care of their children, and wanted their then the world would be a happy place. Children would not be so screwed up and their would not be a need for foster homes or adoption.

But come one. We all know that this world is not perfect. The fact is that there are parents out there that are more interested in drugs then taking care of their children. So the children are taking away and put in better homes.

What would you propose happen to these kids?
