Hi, I m 16 and I ve been changing surnames all my life and if I am adopted my surname would change again. I know its not a big deal but I m so sick of it and I dont wanna change the name I grew with for majority of my life all my friends know me as that and they still get confused when my old name pops up. bottom line I m so close to having and Identity crisis if i have to change my name again!
pls help do i really need to change my surname?

My mother got remarried a few times thats why I changed my name so often.

The only reason adopted parents change the adopted child's name is so they can sever all ties to the child's biological family and make their child their own. They think if they give the child their surname by force most of the time, then the child automatically will become theirs. This is forbidden in Islam as you are not allowed to call a child who is not yours by the name of other than their father and it destroyes the child's lineage and identity. Tell the adopted parents that you won't have your name changed. |

There is no requirement that you have to. It's just usually done when parents adopt children as they are now part of the family. |

I find it odd that if you have never been adopted, that you have had to change your last name so many times. Generally when you are adopted, they do change or add to the last name. But at your age, I am quite sure you get a vote in this matter and just talk to them about it |
