I'm leaning towards the Social Services Dept.? Is this correct?

Yep, that's correct. It may be called something different in different areas, but that's the office you're looking for.

That's where you would contact to become a foster parent or to adopt a child who is in foster care but is legally free for adoption. There are lots of kids in care who need homes, either on a temporary or permanent basis depending on their situation.

each state has a different names for it. Most states i know call it Department of families and welfare. Call your local county government information line or look it up online. Eventually someone can help you. Good luck.

That's what I'm doing. I just looked up my city's Social Services Dept and contacted them. I'm now going to start classes at the end of December. Good luck and God bless you for wanting to foster or adopt a child.

chekc with your local child and family services. check into older children. there are so many unloved children who just need a place to call home, and someone who really loves them

department of children and families/DSS every state has a different name for it but thats where you start they will come out to your home and if you are approved they will set you up with classes good luck
