I think anyone who's actually open to listening and learning, and who doesn't shut people out...expecially the adoptees and first parents. They're the ones who live through it. Anyone who won't listen to them, or who insults them, isn't going to learn anything, and isn't going to be making a lot of sense when they talk about adoption. Because they're just talking about their own ideas, without any input from the popel who know what they're talking about.

I have SOOOOO many mentors on here, just look at my contacts list!

But MamaKate and Mei Ling are so tact.... You just gotta love 'em

All my contacts!

And I love the almost-burned-by-adoption opinions of Tish & Grapesgum.

No one here because everyone's "sense" is jaded by experience.

"Sense" implies a reliable ability to judge and decide with soundness, prudence, and intelligence.

All this flew out the window in Adoption Land.

I love your questions... LOL

Seriously, to me, the answer would be anyone who:

1. has a BALANCED, non-extreme view. Someone who realizes the problems that exist and the changes that need to be made. Not someone who thinks adoption is all kittens and roses and needs to happen MORE than it does.

2. On the other side of the coin, someone who doesn't buy into extreme conspiracy theories and twisted statistics (like the adoptees being more abused, more often killed, etc) or buy into extreme views that all adoptees are permanently damaged from being taken away from their original mothers, like they could NEVER bond with anyone else. I know too many adoptees to believe such nonsense.

3. Someone who doesn't stereotype any one group. Who realizes that not ALL agencies are corrupt.. not ALL Aparents (or even most!) are evil, not all biological mothers are poor, trashy, or would have made bad mothers, etc, etc

4. Someone who accepts that an adoptee has two sets of mothers and (usually) fathers.. Both are "real" and the parent who raised the child is a "real" parent.

That's the kind of balanced person with an open mind and all eyes open that makes sense.
