Wording for an adoption shower for a girl 3 1/2 and boy 2 1/2 (bio siblings)from Russia-before the kids arrive
|
Friends want the shower before the kids are actually here - they fly over once to meet the kids and then go back a month later to bring them to the US. Any ideas for wording for invites and themes, would be much appreciated!!! Additional Details The kids will not be at the shower. This will be just friends and family celebrating the mom to be - after years of trying to get pregnant and then waiting to adopt.

It`s a BOY! And a GIRL!
Nancy and Kevin Taylor are finally becoming parents to two little bundles of happiness!
Natasha is 3 1/2 and Tovi is 2 1/2 and they are waiting for the day they will come to our town in a whirlwind from Moscow Russia.
While all the paperwork is going through Nancy and Kevin have a lot to do!
Please come to a shower on August 13 for Nancy
Address
City
RSVP
On a separate note inside:
Nancy has registered for kid stuff at Target for clothes (girl size 4; boy size 3T) and toys and sheets and blankets and carseats etc.
And at Barnes and Noble (bn.com) for books
If you could include a digital picture of the kids I think that would be awesome.
This is not really a game but I think one thing you could have guests do is bring a note with the best piece of parenting advice they have -- a quote or something they have learned over the years if they are parents.
If you want a decorating theme I think airplanes might be fun for the kids flying overseas and would work for boy or girl. |

Amy has clearly done this many times before. Her ideas are great.
I think it's wonderful that family and friends are celebrating with the soon-to-be-parents. |

I think you should have a russian theme party so friends and family can learn a little about the children's culture. It would help everyone gain a better understanding before the children come.
As far as wording the invitations, I think you should be really clear so distant relatives who come aren't confused.
"Kristin and Frank are adopting two wonderful children from Russia on August 18th!
Please join us on July 23rd to help the couple celebrate and prepare for their new arrivals. Girl is 3 1/2 and her hobbies are.... Boy is 2 1/2 and his hobbies are... The family is registered at Kids'r'us." |

I agree with maybe service russian themed foods or other things to bring people close to the baby's heritage.
Invitation: Please join us as we welcome the newest memebers, Him and Her, to our family. They will have traveled a long way and we want to give them the best welcome home present ever. |

having a shower is for brides and pregnant ladies. not for 3 year olds. |

"Instead of adopting children from the US, of which there are THOUSANDS in foster care, we would like you to welcome these boys that we purchased from the other side of the planet. No worries about any baby mama drama here!" |

These last two comments are RIDICULOUS. 1) It doesn't matter where the kids are coming from, they need a home & these people are opening their homes & their hearts. 2) The shower isn't for the 3 year old, it's for the MOM!! She's becoming a parent for the first time & needs just as much stuff as a pregnant lady-- it's about celebrating a new life coming into their home-- whether that baby comes from her or another way-- she's still welcoming a child!!
Grow up people & become a little more open minded. |
